You Vote: Connecticut Magazine Looking for Top CT Eats in 2015 Edition

8 Oct

Best of Connecticut 14 15

It’s that time of year again when Connecticut Magazine puts out a call for votes to determine the best food in the state. Thanks to awesome people like you, Fairfield County swept the contest last year racking up votes as the most awarded county in 1st, 2nd, and even 3rd place. Yeah, you and the 203 are awesome like that!

This year it looks like some spots outside the 203 are getting some well-deserved attention, which is great to see! Sometimes with contests like these people tend to vote for a restaurant that is really well known, but not necessarily the best, so we’d love to see the underdogs, holes in the wall, and secret hot spots across the state make the cut!

5 Connecticut Towns Make New England’s 25 Best Food Towns List

25 Feb

New England's 25 Best Food Towns

New England is an excellent place to be if you like to eat.  We get the rewards of being so close to the water, having plenty of farms, being steeped in tradition, and having a great crop of chefs who are pushing culinary boundaries, too.  And, now, we get our own list from GoLocal!

They put together a list of some of the best places in New England that you’ll need to hit up if you want some great food.  Their technique in finding the towns was very unique:  they looked at ratings, James Beard awards, Diamonds from AAA, Stars from Mobil/Forbes, and other awards from national papers, magazines, and press.  In addition, they look at what the local food scene was like, which included culinary programs, culinary schools, cooking classes, farmers’ markets, and food and wine events.

After crunching the numbers and doing their research, they created a list of the New England’s 25 Best Food Towns for awesome food.  We’ll focus on the five place in Connecticut that made the list, highlighting what they liked the most.  Unfortunately, Boston came in at #1.  At least they can be #1 at something…ouch.  Sorry Red Sox fans.

#21 Ridgefield, CT

They cite The Stonehenge Inn’s Restaurant as their main inspiration for keeping 4 AAA Diamonds and receiving other critical acclaim.  Also cited is the great food and cooking classes at Bernard’s Restaurant and Sarahs’s Wine Bar in an historic inn, and they also offer terrific cooking classes.

So, we’ve gotta give some major props to Napa & Co in Stamford.  To begin, we were blown away by the dinner that Chef Arik Bensimon prepared for us during a blogger dinner.  We’re also impressed with all the awards that they have stacked up over the past few weeks:

They’re sharing the love this summer by offering up special prix fixe menus.  In July, they will be offering a Summer Farmers Tasting Menu.  Stop by any night in July and you’ll get a 3 course meal that is paired with wine for just $45.  That kind of value, complemented by Chef Arik’s culinary chops is killah.
The awesomeness doesn’t stop, though.  In AugustNapa & Co is extending the Stamford Summer Restaurant week deal.  Yup, get a 3 course meal with wine for just $30.12 during the night.  It’s hard to pass this deal up even more.  Also, be sure to check up on our Nomworthy Events calendar for wine related tastings and events.
