Pig Roast, Beer Garden + Sidewalk Margarita Bar @ Bodega’s Cinco de Mayo Party 2016

26 Apr

Cinco de Mayo is just a few days away . . . and we’ve got some great news to share coming from Bodega Taco Bar. Which one, OmNom, which one? BOTH! But how do we decide which one to go to, OmNom? Well, it depends what you’re into:

Darien will have a pig roast, Patron tequila specials, music from PanaMusik, and a pop-up beer garden. Fairfield will feature the Bodega food truck, a sidewalk margarita bar, more Patron tequila specials, and “strolling guitar music.” If you are as hardcore as we hope you are, you could easily hit up one then get to the other. ;)

Then, just tres days later, check out their Mother’s Day brunch from 11-4 or dinner from 4-10. You take mom out, she gets a free cocktail. ;)

Muy Caliente: 5 Course Azuñia Tequila Dinner @ Bodega Fairfield

30 Jan

UPDATE: Moved to March 2 at 7:30 because of the very annoying snow.

If you know anything about us, you know we love our Mexican food here at OmNomCT. And, if you know even more about us, you know that we really dig the food at Bodega Taco Bar. They have killer grilled corn (elote), creative spins on tacos, and wonderful dishes that keep us coming back. Part of the allure of Bodega is their focus on excellent cocktails and their love of all things tequila. Well, that love of the classic fermented agave liquor is about ready to take the spotlight once again at Bodega Fairfield on February 9 March 2 starting at 7:30 with the Azuñia Tequila Dinner. Tickets are $65 in advance or $75 at the door with with tax and tip extra. To get tickets, call up (203) 292-9590 or email David.

The menu that night will feature five courses of freshly prepared, bright, and succulent Mexican dishes highlighted with a different kind of Azuñia tequila. This Mexican-made liquor is made from 100% Weber Blue Agave and is actually certified as USDA organic. And, believe it or not, Azuñia is one of the oldest agave producers in the Tequila and Jalisco parts of Mexico. Now, just a little primer on tequila before we share the menu:

11 Oct

Dia de los Muertos…Day of the Dead.

Traditionally, it’s celebrated November 1 and 2 in Mexico, but this national holiday is actually celebrated all across the world.   During Dia de Los Muertos, family and friends gather to remember and pray for those who have been lost.  People who participate often will paint their faces and dress in costumes, take part in parades, and may visit cemeteries.  Some of the traditions of this holiday include creating altars for the deceased that include sugar skulls and some of their favorite food and drinks.
