Before and after. The first shot is from our visit in July, while the second shot is from Peter this past Friday.
It’s fun to make friends in the beer world . . . because the beer world employs some of the coolest, down-to-earth, nicest peeps we’ve ever met. Case in point: Peter Cowles and Tara Kasaks Cowles from Aspetuck Brew Lab (see all the background details in our February post).
It all started with a casual conversation at Harbor Brew Fest 2014 where they were sampling some of their brews. After a little bit of talk about the CT beer scene, we learned about their plans to open up in Fairfield (plans would change when they found a Black Rock spot). Continue reading
We kind of feel bad sharing this because we know that Toni’s Tuscan Table is a little gem that not everyone has discovered yet . . . so, we know people will be pissed at us for blowing up their spot, but we’ve got some great news to share. Yup, Toni’s Tuscan Table has moved and reopened at 1006 Broad Street in Bridgeport.
Oh yes, it’s true!
Hola, amigos! Que pasa?
Well, we’ll let you know what’s up by telling you about a great new event that Taco Loco in Bridgeport has planned: The 1st Annual Fairfield County Tequila Takeover. This ode to agave will feature more than 15 different tequila bands, music, a cocktail competition, and even food trucks. Tickets are very affordable at $25 and that gets you unlimited tastings of the tequila and the cocktails. Plus, to keep things organized nicely, they’re going to have two sessions: 1-3 and 4-6. After you’ve eaten all your leftovers and you are thoroughly tired of eating turkey, you know what’s right around the corner, don’t you? Yup, it’s the start of getting ready for Christmas! You need to take our your decorations, set up your inflatables, go present shopping, and of course you need that perfect tree. Doesn’t that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside? Okay, maybe the idea of hunting for that perfect tree isn’t that great, but it should be a lot easier this year!
Picture yourself here…what, you’re dunk already?
That’s right, tickets to one of our absolute favorite beer fests in the tri-state, Harbor Brew Fest at The Ball Park @ Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, go on sale June 21 starting at 9 am. Tix are $40 for GA ($50 at the door if any tix are left) and $60 for the Brewer’s Special, which gets you in an hour early and gives you access to a special tented area for exclusive and rare tastings. You can also get your tix at Harry’s (they help to make this festival so freaking awesome!) in Fairfield.
9/20: mark it down!
If you went last year and thought they had an amazing selection of craft and local beer, then prepare to be blown away. Seriously, brace yourselves. That’s cuz this year on 9/20 from 12-5 (1-5 for GA), there will be over 100 breweries on hand! And, whereas there was one giant tent filled to the brim with CT breweries down on the field, prepare for more on that green green grass!
Our local b-ball team, the Bridgeport Bluefish, is hosting an event that’s sure to be pretty damn awesome. They are calling it FeBREWary with the Brewfish. Lolz, we love it.
The fun is going down on February 25 from 6-8 pm at Two Roads Brewery in Stratford. Not only will there be plenty of food and beer, but there will also be brewery tours and even a raffle that might land you some suite (oh yes, we did) prizes. Plus, won’t it be awesome to meet the Bridgeport Bluefish? They’ll be on hand!
