Your Passport Through Spain’s Vineyards and Food at Barcelona Greenwich this March

10 Feb

Barcelona Greenwich Passport to SpainA few years ago, we went on an extended vacation (thanks to a very nasty hurricane back home) to Barcelona, Spain.  We had a great time exploring the art, culture, and especially the food of Barcelona and wine of the Penedès region.  And, even still, we long for Spain and talk of going back to explore even more.  Well, this is going to be a little bit easier to do this March…and you don’t even need to leave Connecticut.

This is all thanks to Barcelona Greenwich who will be hosting a series of events in March called Passport to Spain.  Each class starts at 7 pm, lasts an hour, and takes you through a different wine region in Spain.  Not only will you learn about (and drink) the wines of Rioja, Galicia, Montsant/Priorat, and Valencia, but you’ll also have some great tapas prepared by Executive Chef Michael Lucente.  Also, as the night goes on you’ll receive some advice and learn how to pair wine with some popular dishes.

We’re not sure if it is the jamón or tomatoes that inspired Executive Chef Michael Lucente to create his La Tomatina Wine Dinner menu, though.  We know after spending some quality time at the Chef’s Table at Barcelona Greenwich that Chef Lucente loves both of these, but this meal is a definite homage to the humble heirloom tomato.  This special once a year meal is on Wednesday, August 28, and starts at 7 pm.  $50 (tax and gratuity not included) gets you four courses that not only feature tomatoes, but are also paired with wine.  To get your spot, just visit the Barcelona event site and purchase your tix…that easy!  Here are the deets:
