Update: things are a bit different for this year’s (2012) Friday Farm Market. Check it out here.
Two things of awesomeness:
1) Stamford Museum & Nature Center will be hosting a “Friday Farm Market” from June 10 until October 28. The Friday Farm Market will take place at SM&NC‘s upper parking lot off of Scofieldtown Road. What will be for sale? On their FB page, they say: ” The SM&NC Friday Farm Market will feature Connecticut farmers and vendors with agricultural, horticultural, and food items that they have grown, produced, or processed.” Here’s some info on New Canaan’s Farmer’s Market!
10 am – 2 pm
Wave Hill Bread–> Breads, pastries, cookies
Newgate Farms–> Fruits, vegetables, plants, flowers, and baked goods
Dream Desserts–> Desserts, duh
Walking Wood Farm–> Eggs
Moorefield Herb Farm–> Herbs
Smith Acres–> Fruits and vegetables
Farming 101–> Heirloom tomatoes
Truelove Farms–> Eggs, pork, and beef
Sounds good to us! Go local, go green, get shopping!
2) Spring on the Farm: a special kick off and preview of Friday Farm Market this Sunday, May 15, from 11-4. The sheep will get sheared and you can see how that wool gets turned into yarn. Also on their FB page: “There will be activities for all ages including storytelling, face painting, crafts, a plant and herb sale, and more! We’ll have refreshments for sale, hayride tickets for purchase, and our galleries will be open.”
Sorry, we cannot condone any sheep or farm animal jokes in this post.
