We hope you don’t have any plans over the next two weeks because we’ve got a friggin boatload of events, deals to check out, beer to drink, and some amazing dishes that you need to devour. Thanks for reading . . . and see you next week!

11/19 Check out The Blind Rhino in SoNo tonight for some awesome cocktails using Sons of Liberty liquor. Behind the bar that night will be Carl Summa, Jeff Marron, and some others who are ready to make the cocktail of your dreams. Also, there will be Thai Peanut Wings. Boom.

11/20 Get a Taste of West Haven from 6:30-9:30 at the Savin Rock Conference Center @ 6 Rock Street. Tickets are $40 in advance and include food, wine, and beer from some of West Haven’s best restaurants. To get your ticket, head to Ye Old Liquor Shoppe, the West Haven Chamber of Commerce, or e-mail Cheryl Milano.

11/21-25 Chief Brody’s Banh Mi Truck will be hitting up the Yale/Harvard football game on 11/21 (location TBD), will be in downtown New Haven on 11/24 for lunch (location TBD), and at Two Roads on 11/25 from 4-8.

11/22 There are plenty of great spots to eat during and after the Stamford UBS Parade Spectacular, but one of our faves is Eos. If you stop by and dress like a turkey they’ll give you a $5 drink special . . . okay, well, you don’t have to dress like a turkey to get the deal, but that would be friggin awesome.

11/22 The Heavy Pets are playing BRYAC in Black Rock starting at 7 pm. No fee, no cover, just good times. ;)

11/24 Artisan Restaurant in Southport is hosting a Johnnie Walker Trunk Show Experience from 7-10. Get your own tastes of Johnnie Walker Red, Black, double Black, Gold, Platinum, and even Blue. There will also be a cocktail using Johnnie Red for you to sip on to start the night off. And, yes, there will be plenty of food provided throughout the night as you get Scotch-ized. Tickets are $100 all in including food, drinks, and tip. Get ’em by calling them at (203) 307-4222.  Continue reading

Chowdafest V Soups and Chowders List (Start Planning Your Attack Plan Now)

25 Jan

The results are in!

We told you all about how wickedly awesome Chowdafest V is going to be a while ago, remember?  Well, we got an e-mail from Chief Chowdahead, the Sultan of Soup himself…Jim Keenan.  While we were disappointed that some of the restaurants dropped out of the contest, we’re also very excited to hear that a few new ones entered the race.  We’ve been updating our original post to reflect those changes, but that’s already such a huge post and we didn’t want to make it even bigger, so we’re sharing the final entries with your here.  You’ll see the three categories and the soups that each restaurant will be preparing.  If you see “R” under Years, that means they are new to Chowdafest.

Feast on Ridgefield’s Best Food at Taste of Ridgefield to Benefit Ridgefield Rotary

6 Jan
While we focus mainly on Lower Fairfield County, one of our resolutions this year was to get out there, expand, and show more of the great things going on and restaurants throughout Fairfield County.  Well, let’s start things off right with telling you about Taste of Ridgefield, more awsomerest than last year or any of the 13 previous years.  What exactly is Taste of Ridgefield?  28 different awesome restaurants, bakeries, cheese shops, and caterers from the area giving out yummy bites, treats, and drinks until you explode or lose the will to eat anymore.  Tickets are $40 (benefits Ridgefield Rotary Club) if you buy in advance (or $45 at the door) and kids 12 and under cost only $20.  There will be two tasting sessions:  one from 12:30-2:30 and the other  from 4-6 pm.  What’s even better?  It’s on Sunday, 1/27, so you have no excuse not to show up and take part in this awesome culinary event.  If you buy your tickets online, all you’ll have to do is show up at the Ridgefield Community Center on 316 Main Street…no need to print out your ticket.
Here’s the list of all the places that will be providing food:
