From now until September 1, you can get your Connecticut Chef’s Challenge tix at a discounted rate. Yup, for just $60 you can pick up a ticket that would normally cost $75. Being such big supporters of the CT Chefs Challenge from Optimus Health Care and the chefs that compete, we were excited to hear about the CT Food Truck Throwdown. Six of the best food trucks in CT have been gathered in a competition where you not only get to taste the best from each truck, but you also get a vote to crown the People’s Choice champ. It all goes down from 4-8 on 5/19 right at 805 Atlantic Street where there will be free parking. Each ticket costs $25 ($20 early bird until May 6) and that gets you a 4-6 oz. serving from each of the trucks. If you’d like an additional serving from a truck, you can always buy more. Proceeds from the night are going right to Optimus Health Care whose mission is to “Improve the overall health of our communities in Bridgeport, Stamford, and Stratford, particularly the medically underserved, by providing preventive, primary care and supplemental health care services along with health education in a culturally sensitive manner regardless of ones’ ability to pay.” Continue reading
We had a blast year at the 2015 CT Chefs Challenge and were so proud to be one of the partners for the event. Some of the areas best chefs did battle to see who had the best dish of the night. In the end, we were impressed with how much each chef and sous chefs were able to accomplish in such a short time. In the end, it was Chef Adam Bedini from StrEATery food truck who took home the #1 spot and the coveted trophy. Continue reading
We already told you to save the date, so it’s about that time to get your tickets for the 2015 CT Chefs Challenge! The competition goes down on Friday, September 18, starting at 7 pm at the Lincoln Culinary Institute in Shelton. This year you have two options for tix, too: GA for $50 which includes free beer/wine, apps, food buffet, coffee, and dessert or the Tasting Ticket for $100 which also includes a reserved seat at a shared table, and a tasting dish from the chefs for the table to share. Also included is the cocktail hour where you’ll have the chance to drink, try some apps, meet some new friends, and learn about The Optimus Foundation who are the benefactors of this incredible event.
Now, here are some of the great things to look forward to:
We already have September 18 at 7 pm blocked off on our calendar because that’s when the 5th Annual Connecticut Chefs Challenge goes down! Fairfield County’s best chefs will be competing at Lincoln Culinary Institute in Shelton to take him the much-coveted “Best in Show” title. What’s great is that when you attend, you get to taste everything and vote along side a guest judge panel. Tickets are not on sale yet, but you’ll soon be able to find them here and a portion of the sales will go directly to The Optimus Foundation that helps to construct and maintain medical facilities throughout the 203 for communities that need the support.
Food competition shows are fun to watch on TV, no doubt. There’s lots of excitement, panic, stressful situations, and lots of smack talk going down. But, you miss out on a key component: interaction. You can’t talk with the chefs, (even though you might be yelling at the TV and telling them to not cook the pork for any longer, they can’t actually hear you) and you certainly can’t taste all the awesome food that they are making.
Well, you’ve got your chance as the Connecticut Chefs Challenge returns for another year at Lincoln Culinary Institute in Shelton. This year there are seven CT chefs who are vying to win the title of “Best in Show.” The fun begins at 5:30 with a cocktail reception where you’ll learn about The Optimus Foundation (they construct and maintain medical facilities in Fairfield County for communities in need) who this event benefits and you’ll get to down some great small bites to help prep you for the contest.
