5/28 Thank God it’s International Hamburger Day! Some of our top spots are Burgers, Shakes & Fries in Darien and Greenwich, Bailey’s Backyard in Ridgefield, and Plan B Burger Bar in Stamford. 

5/29 Celebrate the indie spirit and don’t miss the Indie Gala: charity Shindig that starts at 7! There will be cocktails, noms, and music for just $39 online or $50 at the door. 

5/30-31 Don’t forget about the New Haven Food Truck Festival that will feature Hooker beer gardens (the brewery, you sick people)! Deets here

CT Food News, Vol. 38: Events, Trux, Cocktails, New Menu Items, Beer Releases + More

Believe it or not, OmNomivores, there’s way more than just 8, 9, or 10 things going on in Fairfield County and the state. Nope, it’s more like there’s hundreds of things. And, while we can’t write about every event, every dinner, every brew fest, and every piece of news, we damn well try to give you the best and the most info that’s out there. So, here we go:

Events and Dinners

5/1 The Poutine King food truck will be at Half Full in Stamford from 6-9. Various poutines goes from $7-9 with other options like hot dogs available too. While you’re there you probably want to drink, huh? Simple: $15 gets you all the Half Full that you can handle.

5/1-5/3 Eat at Terra or Mediterraneo in Greenwich and they will donate a portion of their earnings to Greenwich United Way. 

5/2 It’s Mayweather vs. Pacquiao at Sign of the Whale in Stamford! Entry to watch the fight is just $20 and can be reserved by clicking here

The Buzz Truck5/3 Come by Earthplace in Westport from 12-4 to not only check out the birds that they are taking care of and rehabilitating, but to also get some major noms. We’re talking about The Buzz Truck, Bounty Burger, Lobstercraft, Valencia, and Fire Engine Pizza Company food trucks!

CT Food News, Vol. 22: Deals, Bourbon, Beer, Paired Dinners, Art, Film + More

Well, it happened…we’ve entered a new season, but don’t worry, we’ve got a ton of events this week to let you know about mixed in with some great and unique paired beer dinners.  Also, check out some deals, updates, and what’s new in CT beer.  So, stick with us, we’ll always keep you informed with the freshest, newest, best-est, and most delicious-est things around these here parts. 


9/25-28 Sacred Heart University presents their 1st Annual FTMA Film Festival, taking place at different locations in Stamford.  Movies, screenings, and Q&As are all free, but make sure to grab your tickets on their site!  In addition, there will be plenty to drink and eat with a cocktail reception at the Avon on 9/25 starting at 6:30 with an after-party at Cask Republic at 9:30.  On 9/26, check out the Filmmaker Happy Hour at 4:30 at Cask Republic and the End of Prohibition after-party at 9:30 at Stamford Innovation Center, and on 9/27 come to Lorca at 10 for some Coffee Talk (pronounced with a Long Island accent, of course), happy hour at Cask at 4, and an after party at the Palace Theatre at 10.

9/27 What’s that you say?  Fall is over?  Pshhh, not at Sign of the Whale in Stamford.  They are hosting an Endless Summer party from 11:30 am – 8 pm.  This full day event features $4 summer brews, $5 hot dogs and burgers, a sunset champagne toast, a live DJ, and a cornhole tournament.  Also, if you stay around after 8 and RSVP here, you’ll get your first drink for free.

CT Beer + Food News, Vol. 21: Openings, Updates, Fundraisers, Deals, Beer Dinners + More

We hope you’ve all been having a great week…well, it’s about to get even better.  Look at all these great events, openings, and beer-related goodness going on in the 203 and the rest of the state!  As always, let us know if we can add anything or feature an event that you love. 


The Norwalk Open Door Shelter’s kitchen was recently renovated and they need your help restocking the kitchen (well, they could always use your help with that).  Donate to them by bringing donations or helping out online.

OmNomCT has entered the Stamford Chili Contest on 11/2 from 11-3 pm at Stamford Museum & Nature Center. Do you think you’ve got the beans to go toe-to-toe with us and other home cooks from the area?  If so, write Joe Gonzalez at stamfordchilicookoff@yahoo.com.  Even if you’re not participating, come down…more info coming soon.

9/18 Check out 850 Degrees Wood Fired Pizza from 7-10 today to help raise money for Bully Breed Rescue.  Also, there will be $5 pints of Black Hog! The Ridgefield restaurant will be donating 15% of all profits to Bully Breed of New Canaan who not only rescue pit bulls, but also help to find them new homes.

CT Food News, Vol. 16: Whole Pigs, IPA Day, Beer Stuff, Props, and More…

Here’s all the food, beer, and event news in the 203 and beyond that’s fit to e-print:


Deuxamis at LeFarm, a collabo between Beverage Manger Jeff Marron and Executive Chef Arik Bensimon will take a temporary break as Chefs Bill and Jeff Taibe and co. open up their their new restaurant, kawaNi.  So, get your last bites and sips this coming weekend.

Bistro 7 in Wilton will have the art of Kendall Meehl on display starting on August 9.  While you’re there, don’t forget they have food and drinks, too. :P  Also, congrats to Bistro 7 because Governor Malloy recently bought his own bottle of their very own Extra Virgin Olive Oil!

8/8 Broken Arrow plays Seaside Tavern at 891 Cove Road in Stamford at 10 pm.  Have a beer, have some snacks, and prepare to be blown away…especially if they throw out their “Psycho Killer” cover.

CT Food News, Vol. 15: Pepe’s Takes MA, Festivals, Contests, CT Beer Props, Updates, and more…

August is a bittersweet month:  the last bits of summer are dripping down, parents, teachers, and students are ready to head back to school, and the boys of summer are gone (points for the reference).  But, screw that bittersweet crap:  we’re talking ’bout just sweet for the next two weeks!  In CT Food + Beer News, Volume 15, we’ve got openings, restaurant updates, fairs, restaurant specials, and more.  If you’d like a full list of events that we’ve covered in previous posts, check out our Events page up above.

Restaurant Openings and Updates

Pepe’s Pizza will be opening up a restaurant in Brookline, MA, further expanding their cheesy empire.  Pepe’s will be replacing The Fireplace restaurant, formerly owned by Jim Solomon.  Other locations include the original Pepe’s in New Haven, and their pizza satellites in Danbury, Fairfield, Manchester, Mohegan Sun, West Hartford and Yonkers.
