To say that we were both nervous about guest bartending at Bistro 7 would be a gross understatement.  What if someone ordered a cocktail we had never heard of, what if we put too much vodka, gin, or rum into the shaker?  The possibilities were endless, but our fears added up a bit when we got behind the bar.  Amanda, the bartender at Bistro 7, took us through where the bottles of white were, where the reds by bottle and glass where, where the vodkas were, where the rums were, where the premium liquor was, which glasses to use for soda, water, cocktails, wine, and beer, where the water tap was, how to pour the perfect pint, how to pour a glass of wine, how to fill out order tickets, where to put dirty dishes, where to find the napkins and utensils, where to find the spoons/soup spoons/forks/knives, and how to pick up the food at the kitchen window.  Woooooh.

OmNomCT + Others Guest Bartend for Charity @ Bistro 7 in Wilton

We’ve been practicing and preparing for this moment all our lives.  Yes, we’ve been drinking cocktails to prepare and we’ve even studied Andy Samberg’s mixology skills on Portlandia.  Well, that must mean that we’re ready for our bartending gig at Bistro 7 in Wilton on March 13, right?  Sure thing!  Have us mix you a drink from 6:30 and on and Bistro 7 will donate 10% of their revenue that night right to one of our favorite causes, Community Plates.  This awesome organization is a made up of a network of volunteers who help to rescue food from markets and restaurants then bring those meals to soup kitchens and pantries.

OmNomCT: Three Years of Devouring the Fairfield County Food Scene

It was October 31, 2010 when we hit that Publish button on WordPress for the first time. Hitting the button meant a lot and threw a ton of questions into our heads. Would people like what we have to say? Would people appreciate our honest, straightforward, irreverent, and sometimes critical point of view? Or, better yet, would anyone read at all?

We keep growing and it all comes down to you, the people, the OmNomivores who have made us successful. Whether you just go straight to our site, subscribe by email, follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook, or drool over our pics on Instagram, we can’t thank you enough.

It’s been a great three years and we’re very excited for what the future holds.  So, we’ve decided to give you a top three list of why it’s been awesome to have OmNomCT:

1) We’ve loved helping and supporting our readers, local businesses, and charities.

2) We’ve loved the people that we’ve met along the way.

3) We’ve loved all the food that we have eaten.  Hey, it’s in the name of the blog after all.

Rocking an Online Restaurant Review Video from Our Ignite Stamford Talk

On January 31, Ignite Stamford made its triumphant debut at the Stamford Innovation Center.  The premise of all Ignite talks is keep it fun, keep it enlightening, and keep it entertaining…all fit into 20 slides that auto advance every fifteen seconds, making up a five minute speech.  Now, that might seem like it’s not a big deal, but when you’re up there in front of people and those slides advance before you’re ready, you need to think fast!

It just so happened that we had applied to talk at the inaugural event and were accepted.  Our speech, “How to Rock an Online Restaurant Review” took us quite a while to put together, but by the time we were done with it and done practicing, we were very happy with the results.  Oh, and as you watch the video, know that the video didn’t pick up all the laughing too well.  Trust us…people were laughing at our jokes! :)
