If you’ve been following our blog, it’s no secret that we are huge supporters of Eat for Equity Stamford.  And, what’s not to love about a group of volunteers who put together meals with all money raised going to local charities?  And, just as exciting, what’s not to love about local businesses like Saugatuck Craft Butchery and Shop Rite Super Grade A who come together to provide high quality food that is also local?  It’s a marriage of everything awesome…plus, after each dinner, you always leave feeling good, feeling like you’ve helped to make a change in the community, and you probably have made a few new great friends in the process, too.

#GivingTuesday 2013 in Fairfield County: Where to Give

Around this time of year you’ve probably finished up the last bits of the turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce.  You’ve probably finished a good deal of your shopping, too, between Black Friday, the long weekend, and Cyber Monday.  And, that leads us to today, #GivingTuesday.  It’s a day to give back, to help out your local community, and to make a difference.  We’ve gathered together some of our favorite places, charities, and organizations that you could celebrate #GivingTuesday by donating.

Community Plates:  Community Plates focuses on finding ways to rescue food from local markets, shops, and restaurants, then delivering them to soup kitchens and pantries.  Their mission is to wipe out hunger across Fairfield County and throughout America.  A donation of $25 helps to rescue 200 meals, but for today a generous donor has agreed to match your donation, so that $25 will be doubled and you’ll help to rescue 400 meals!  Donate here.
