11/12 Make sure you hit up the Monger Mingle in Greenwich today from 7-9 at The Hub (160 East Putnam Ave. in Cos Cob). There will be plenty of great samples to try from Greenwich Cheese Company, Fjord Fish Market, and brand new tenant Fleishers Craft Butchery. In addition, if you stop by Cos Cob Liquors in the same center, they’ll be providing wine and beer tastings, so come thirsty, too. And, while you’re at all these great shops, buy buy buy . . . especially knowing that 10% of your purchases go to Community Plates. Continue reading

10/22 The Bee Foundation (bringing brain aneurysm awareness) is hosting a special guest bartender event from 6-8 at Gallo Restaurant in Ridgefield. The bartenders for that night are Susie Mendizabal and Hoodoo Brown’s own Chris Sexton. They’ll be donating 10% of all drinks right to TBF and will also be selling raffle tickets for $20. 8/7 Happy Hour has been reinvented at Westport Playhouse starting at 6:30 today for anyone under the age of 35. For just $25 you’ll get a Happy Hour party, bites from The Spread in SoNo, frozen custard samples from Shake Shack, live music from PJ Pacifico, a chance to win dinner for two at Bartaco, and your ticket to watch Love & Money at 8 pm. This is just about the most killer deal ever. 

8/7 The Danbury Farmers’ Market is back in action from 11-5 at Kennedy Park. They’ll have plenty of farm fresh veggies, fruits, meats, and even baked goodies.

6/12-13 Hapa Food Truck will be at The Beer Garden @ Shippan Landing from 4-8:30 on Friday and will be at Pride in the Park at 295 West Avenue in Norwalk from 12-8 this Saturday.

5/29 Celebrate the indie spirit and don’t miss the Indie Gala: charity Shindig that starts at 7! There will be cocktails, noms, and music for just $39 online or $50 at the door.

Take a traveling, roaming Taste of the Town in Darien this January when restaurants throughout the town come together to provide great deals on lunch and dinner. In addition, many restaurants and spots will be providing special deals and offers. It all goes down from February 19-26 with a full week of deals that includes the weekend: we hate when the weekend isn’t included, btw.

Aside from the recent rain, we’ve had a beautiful start to fall here in Fairfield County. So, it’s only right to take advantage of fairs, festivals, and events that are taking place outside. The weather is just right…not too hot, not too cold…just right. Maybe keep those Uggs in your closet. Actually, on second thought, throw out your Uggs.  Yeah. 10/4 Java Westport will be donating 15% of all sales on World Animal Day to International Animal Rescue. They help to rescue and rehabilitate suffering animals. Drink up, eat up, and put up…

10/5 The Beer Garden SoNo’s Oktoberfest has been moved from 10/4 to 10/5 due to the crazy rain that we will be doused with. To make it up to ya, they’ll have a HUGE screen where you can watch football, drink brews, and chow down on some food. 

10/5 Going to Sunday School was never this awesome…LUXE Modern Wine & Cocktails in Westport will be teaching you all about the perfect wines as fall hits us. Stop in or call up (203) 349-5039 to reserve your spot. Tix are $40 per person.

CT Food News, Vol. 22: Deals, Bourbon, Beer, Paired Dinners, Art, Film + More

Well, it happened…we’ve entered a new season, but don’t worry, we’ve got a ton of events this week to let you know about mixed in with some great and unique paired beer dinners.  Also, check out some deals, updates, and what’s new in CT beer.  So, stick with us, we’ll always keep you informed with the freshest, newest, best-est, and most delicious-est things around these here parts. 

Events

9/25-28 Sacred Heart University presents their 1st Annual FTMA Film Festival, taking place at different locations in Stamford.  Movies, screenings, and Q&As are all free, but make sure to grab your tickets on their site!  In addition, there will be plenty to drink and eat with a cocktail reception at the Avon on 9/25 starting at 6:30 with an after-party at Cask Republic at 9:30.  On 9/26, check out the Filmmaker Happy Hour at 4:30 at Cask Republic and the End of Prohibition after-party at 9:30 at Stamford Innovation Center, and on 9/27 come to Lorca at 10 for some Coffee Talk (pronounced with a Long Island accent, of course), happy hour at Cask at 4, and an after party at the Palace Theatre at 10.

9/27 What’s that you say?  Fall is over?  Pshhh, not at Sign of the Whale in Stamford.  They are hosting an Endless Summer party from 11:30 am – 8 pm.  This full day event features $4 summer brews, $5 hot dogs and burgers, a sunset champagne toast, a live DJ, and a cornhole tournament.  Also, if you stay around after 8 and RSVP here, you’ll get your first drink for free.
