It only took us a week after Garden Catering on Hamilton Avenue in Greenwich reopened to get down there for breakfast. Yes, we know they are the home of nuggets, but we are breakfast sandwich fiends (or sammies as we like to call them). In fact, if you had asked us if we’d rather give up our beloved sammies or lunch, we’d say sayonara mid-day meal . . . no one needs you when you can have eggs, bacon, chili, cheese, and in the middle of a big ‘ole doughy roll. And, to help you do that, the enablers we are, we’ve put together the biggest and most ultimatest guide to NYE 2015 for Fairfield County. To help ya out, we’ve organized by town and city, too. November? Doh, how did that happen? We’re not sure, and we’re not sure why we’re walking around in shorts now, but we’ll take what we can get. But, we have one bone to pick with some of you. What’s up with the Christmas decorations that are out already? You need to wait until Thanksgiving is over . . . it’s an unwritten rule, but now it’s written because we are passing legislation on the blog this week. <End rant> So, hey, let’s have the best next couple of weeks possible, k? And, we’ll start with all this great stuff to do and check out:
Ladies and gents, we’re just about to wrap up the last full week of summer 2015, but there’s no reason to be sad. Turn that frown upside down because the weather’s been beautiful and there’s still so much to do. So, let’s take Fairfield County and the rest of the state by storm and hit up all these great events, drink all of this great beer, and try out all this killer food. Also, remember we had a ton of events listed from last week’s post that are going down this weekend!
9/18-19 Boothbay Lobster Company food truck will be making the rounds in Stamford, so check out their lobster rolls. Today they’ll be outside of the Sign of the Whale from 4-10 and on Saturday they will be there from 5-11. Continue reading
Peoples, you better believe that there’s a ton to do here in CT and we’re doing our best to get you a crazy good list of events, deals, specials, restaurant news, and CT Beer schtuff. As always, feel free to check out our CT Food News post from last week for even more things going on.
8/14 Harlan Social in Stamford is celebrating 3 years in business and will have $3 tap beers from 4-7.
8/14-15 8/16 Come by Miranda Vineyard in Goshen for a Wine and Chocolate Tasting starting at 12 pm. If this is your kinda thing, then check them out on FB because they have plenty of more tastings and events going on, too.
It’s St. Patrick’s Day, so what better way to celebrate than a guide to some of the best places where you can eat and drink green things in Fairfield County? Really, we don’t think there’s anything better than green stuff. Right? So right! So, take out your shillelagh and check your leprechaun traps, because we’re coming!
Look, there are tons of Italian restaurants in CT, especially in Fairfield County. Some of ’em you can love, some you can just like, and some you can say aren’t even as good as Olive Garden (and that’s saying something). Well, after our press dinner we think Brick + Wood, the newest Italian spot to open in Fairfield in November 2014, is one you can love. We’re gonna break down the reasons why . . .
If you are like most cultured people (get it?) here in the fine state of CT, you love your cheese. And, if you’re fortunate enough to live in or around Fairfield, you definitely know about Fairfield Cheese Company. Seriously: it’s the go-to spot for all the cheese and accoutrements that you could possibly need in FFLD. As you might know through previous posts, they often host Cheese School classes, so we wanted to share with you all of the classes that they’ll be offering to help you get through this crazy cold winter. Also be on the lookout as Greenwich Cheese Company sorts through their recent opening and prepares to host their own classes, too. Reservations can be made by calling (203) 292-8194 with payment due at that time. If you cancel before 24 hours, you’ll get a credit towards any future class, but short notice cancels are nonrefundable.
Sometimes there might be one or two events to write about that are going down on the same weekend, but then again there are times when there’s a crazy amount of awesomeness happening all at the same time. Well, it just so happens to be one of those weekends coming up! So, as promised, here’s a schmatering (how did we even know how to spell that?) of things going on in Fairfield County!
1) Little Barn in Westport is having their 1 Year Anniversary Party! They’ll have live music from the kickass Alpaca Gnomes starting at 9:30 with free hors d’oeuvre and drink specials alllll nightttt lonnngggggg.
Continuing our spotlight on great gifts from local Fairfield County producers, we turn our focus to Jones Winery located in the rolling hills of Shelton. And, when it comes to holiday gifts, is there anything that’s better than wine? You can bring bottles over to your family’s gatherings, give a bottle to a friend, or drink away your sorrows if the in-laws are over. But, seriously, Jones Winery.
