Considering Kristien’s obsession with all things HGTV, it’s a surprise it took us so long to get to the Elephant’s Trunk Country Flea Market. This massive market every Sunday in New Milford features antiques, rare finds, farm stands, and anything you’d need to furnish a home. Sure, you have to rummage through some trash to get to the treasures, but that’s part of the fun. In fact, there are so many food trucks at this flea market every Sunday, they sort of work the same way. They have lots of smaller carts and stands serving up hot dogs, lemonade, Italian ices, and breakfast sandwiches that could be hidden treasures, and they have some of the food trucks we’re all heard of that might not be as much of a treasure as you’d hoped. So we’re going to break down our trash and treasure food truck finds for you so you don’t have to rummage. We got your back! Continue reading

Christmas is coming a little early this year at Overshores Brewery in East Haven. Like, December 12 early. Like, 12-4 early. At that time they’ll be kicking off their BelgXmas Holiday Bash that is absolutely free for anyone to attend.
On that awesome Saturday afternoon, you’ll get a chance at checking out the brewery through some tours and listening to live music from the Brandt Taylor Band. In terms of beer, they’ll have their own brews as well as other Belgian favorites (this is CT’s only Belgian brewery by the way) on special as well as some limited edition brews. Continue reading

There’s an increasingly impressive dining scene, we’re in the center of all the action, we have amazing parks and beaches, and we love to people watch on The Avenue. And, topping off that list is the 7th Annual Greenwich Holiday Stroll Weekend that goes down this year 12/5-6!
There are so many things to check out during this special weekend, that it’d be tough to describe everything, but we’ll highlight some (full list here and down below): professional ice sculpture demos, holiday caroling, entertainment, children’s activities, real life reindeer and photos with Santa, special promotions, deals, and tasting in various Greenwich stores and spots. It’s hard to think of a better way to kick off the first full weekend of summer than with a food truck festival! And, you’ll have exactly that when you head out to Westfield Meriden (470 Lewis Ave.) on Saturday and Sunday (6/27-28) for a great assortment of trux, entertainment, and craft vendors. Entry to the Westfield Meriden Summer Luau Food Truck Fest is free, too, so you’ve got nothing to lose! Hours for both days are 12-7. Now, here are some more deets about the trux that will be there, organized by Both Days or Saturday Only:
Going out to the Greenwich Polo Club grounds to watch a polo match is one of those things that you must do at least a few times a year. Not only is it a quintessential Connecticut way to spend a day, it’s also a great time to spend some time with some friends. Entry is free, but you just need to pay $40 to park for lawn spots (there are other options too), so it pays to carpool. You can start arriving at 1 to get in, set up, and get comfy, and the match begins at 3.
Now, this season will be even more awesome for a few reasons.
You’ve all been good boys and girls (well, most of you), so we’ve got some great news to share with you: today marks the seasonal opening of The Beer Garden at Shippan Landing. If you remember, The Beer Garden opened two years ago where Paloma is now and changed venues last year to its current spot at 290 Harbor Drive. When we visited last year, things were more chill, more open, and felt like a little getaway.
Well, they’re back and back with a vengeance: they’ll be open Wednesday-Thursday from 4-11 and Friday-Saturday from 3-12. You can also expect to see more craft and local brews on tap and in cans including Half Full, Broad Brook, and Captain Lawrence. They will also have plenty of games like cornhole, a hugeass Jenga set, a new favorite called Kan Jam, and even beer pong. They have lots of events, specials, and deals that are planned this summer, so make sure that you keep up with us and with them on FB and on their Instagram page.
Now, although they are still finalizing their food truck schedule for the entire summer, we’ve got the deets on Thursday-Sunday’s trucks and the Memorial Day Party on Sunday:
After their inaugural food truck festival last year, the Race Brook School Food Truck Festival is back and bigger than before (15 last year)! All you have to do is come by the Orange Country Fairgrounds from 4-8 on May 22 with some dinero and a massive appetite! That’s because there is a crazy amount of food trucks that will be there! Just look at this list:
