You know that Ginger Man always does things right with their beer dinners, but here are two dinners with quite a hefty beer lineup.  First up is the Stone Brewing Co. dinner on May 12 at 7 pm at their SoNo location.  Tix are $75 per person and include 5 beers and 5 courses.  In typical G-Man style, they’ll be featuring some hard to find brews:

  1. Go to IPA (cask conditioned)
  2. Ruination
  3. Vertical Epic 12.12.12 (a yearly series)
  4. Old Guardian (2012)
  5. Matts Burning Rosids

Presenting Cask Republic’s First Beer Dinner

Breaking beer news:  Cask Republic Stamford is hosting their first beer dinner.  Oh, and in the words of General Manager Casey Dohme, “It’s going to be pretty epic.”  That’s because Cask Republic will be featuring five specially selected Cask Ales right from Blue Point Brewing of Long Island.  They haven’t picked them out yet, but that’s part of the reason that they are heading out to the Blue Point Brewery Cask Ales Festival this weekend.  After sampling what they have to offer, the Cask Republic and Ginger Man crew will decide which 5 casks will make it to the 5C Blue Point Beer Dinner on Tuesday, May 6.  The inaugural beer dinner begins at 7 pm and costs $85 tax and tip.

Tapping into an exclusive preview of Cask Republic Stamford

Update:  Cask Republic Stamford opens on Thursday, 12/19! 

Do you see that picture?  That’s the draft room that’s downstairs at the soon to open Cask Republic (see our intro post) in Stamford.  We were both overwhelmed when we toured this room with General Manger Casey Doheme, so we can’t imagine what it will be like with kegs and bottles stored inside.  So, let’s talk about those draft lines, huh?  Cask Republic will have the capability to have 60 different brews on tap!  They’ll have 52 lines (one is devoted to their rotating casks) that go straight to the main bar, then 8 that will go to the side/private bar.  One of the slickest features of this setup is that with special Y valves, the draft lines can be shared between both bars.  So, they can mirror some brews that are at the main bar or have 8 different ones available too.  Plus, they’ll have some nitro lines as well as warm beer lines that will suit Belgian beer very well.

Welcome to the largest kitchen of all of Christian Burns’ restaurants. Yes, bigger than Cask Republic in New Haven, and bigger than both Ginger Man in Greenwich and Norwalk. It’s absolutely massive, so that will be a huge advantage to Executive Chef Carl Carrion and all kitchen staff. One of the items that will be on the menu will be the short rib meatballs that we couldn’t get enough of at the Community Plates Food for All fundraiser. You can also expect a nice portion of their menu to be cooked in their Renato wood-burning brick oven stove that they inherited from Ferrante.  While the menu is in the finishing phase, you can expect moderate prices that won’t leave you broke.  Christian said this will be a great option for people because you can come in for a few drinks and a few snacks without paying too much and leave satisfied. He also noted that the menu is versatile because you could sit down for a while, have drinks, and have a large meal too.

Oh Hoppy Day: Cask Republic to Take Over Ferrante Spot in Stamford

Casey and Christian of Cask Republic Stamford took us on a tour of their new spot.  Check it out and get ready for the opening on 12/19. 

Craft beer has become the focus,  more and more, of bars and restaurants in Downtown Stamford.  Perhaps it’s because Half Full Brewery is just a few miles away, producing beer, perhaps it’s also because the craft brew revival has been going on for quite a while now.  People not only want good beer, they want variety, they want to try something unique, something they never had before.  And, while many places in Downtown Stamford can offer up some great beer choices, Summer Street will soon have the ultimate beer destination, paired with an American Tavern/gastropub kinda vibe.

Yes.  Cask Republic is opening in the former Ferrante spot, 191 Summer Street.
