Make sure to get your tix!

Want to try your hand at homebrewing? It’s been a dream of ours for a while, so we’re excited to take the next steps by checking out the Homebrewing Fundraiser at the Greenwich Library. Your beer education and experience starts at 6:30 on May 30 and goes until 8:30. Tickets to this event are just $50 per person and that includes learning about homebrewing, samples, beer “recipes,” pizza, and even refreshments. Given the nature of this fundraiser, you’ll have to be 21+ to attend…sorry four year olds who want to learn about hops. Buy your tickets by clicking here or by calling up Sarah Falvo at (203) 622-7957.

Here are some more details about the event:

Greenwich Library Book Sale Weekend Party, Food Truck Takeover + More

7 May

After we had moved into our new place in Greenwich in December, one of the first things we did was head over to The Greenwich Library on West Putnam Avenue.  We got our library cards and explored.  We saw thousands upon thousands of new books, DVDs, CDs, magazines, computers, help desks, an art gallery, and even an art loan program.  Plus, we loved just gathering up our CDs and books on Ireland and checking ourselves out…nice and simple.  Having all of these great features, hosting awesome events and programs, and keeping up the library isn’t easy at all, so The Greenwich Library is hosting a Book Sale Weekend from May 17-19.  Books (and more) will be on sale including audiobooks, biographies, children’s books, DVDs, cookbooks, fiction, romance novels, young adult literature, and more.  Here are the Book Sale Weekend details:

May 17, 5-8 pm:

Special Book Sale Preview Party for $100.  That gets you early access to the books that are on sale and let’s you in on a fun party with food from Burke Catering, Barcelona, and Whole Foods Market Greenwich.  And, yes, there will be drinks…espresso NEAT will be pouring coffee and espresso, there will be wine and liquors from Horseneck Wines & Liquors, and there will be plenty of drinking of the library’s signature “Book-tini” cocktail.  Guests will also get a chance to meet with antique book appraiser Ken Gloss who is a frequent appraiser on Antiques Road Show.  Ken will appraise up to five books and documents for free as part of your entrance fee, plus you’ll be able to hear Ken talk about “Is There Value in Your Old and Rare Books?” in the Cole Auditorium.  Tickets can be purchased by going here https://greenwichlibrary.ejoinme.org/booksalepreviewparty or contacting Sarah Falvo at (203) 622-7957.

12 Nov

People, caffeine addicts, and workers of Greenwich, your day has come.  Yes, you now have your very own espresso NEAT (see our cupping post).  The award winning coffee shop that has become a go-to coffee destination for people in Darien will be open this Wednesday (11/14) at the beautifully stunning 100 West Putnam.  They are located in the lobby and will be your new spot to pick up some drinks, breakfast, lunch, and even snacks.  If you stop by before 11/14, you just might see them there going through a soft opening.  Just maybe.  ;) Here are some things that you can look forward to:

  • Ready to go coffee and food
  • High quality, amazing coffee, espresso, and tea (once you’ve had a cup, you’ll be hooked)
  • Catering of coffee and pastries for office meetings (man, wish we worked nearby)

Stroll (and Taste) the Tarry Market to Benefit the Greenwich Library – Port Chester, NY

1 Oct

Books and food…ah, the things that fuel Danny’s life.  Part English teacher, part food blogger, part drinker, and part bad-joke-maker.  Sure, that’s lots of different parts, but Danny’s a pretty complex person.

So, taking all these things in to account, you could imagine how happy we both were when Jasmine Posey, training librarian at the Greenwich Library, told us about a special fundraising event at Tarry Market.  Stop by (after you get your tickets of course) October 19 at 7 for a Market Stroll through Mario Batali and Joe Bastaniach’s joint.  You’ll have great wine courtesy of Tarry Wines along with classes from a wine expert, teaching you all about what you’re sipping on.  Now, it wouldn’t be an amazing event without something to pair that wine with.  Don’t worry, there will be charcuterie, cheeses, and crostini along with many great wines.
