Eat for Equity Stamford’s Second Feast Goes Red to Benefit American Red Cross

If you were able to hit up the last Eat for Equity event that centered on childhood faves to raise money ($1,078) for Kids in Crisis, you know what an awesome time it was.  People RSVP’d, noshed on some great food cooked up by RJ Mercede, talked, made new friends, drank, and enjoyed baked goodies from Meg Dalton.  Now, we’re not the kind of people that stick around at events because we usually get bored after an hour, but we stayed until the end here.  So much fun! 

At that dinner they announced that December 1, 2012 was the next dinner (RSVP here).  Well, they just released the vegetarian and heart-friendly menu and all the information, so we thought we’d share it with you:

Appetizer:

  • Zucchini Pancakes with Apple-Cranberry Compote
Dinner:
  • Red Heart Salad: Red Quinoa, Red Carrots, Radishes and Cranberry Dressing over Local Greens
  • Caring Casserole: Scalloped Beets and Red Potatoes
  • Curried Cross Soup with Squash, Apples and Pears

Dessert:

  • Gingerbread “Nutmeggers” with Gumdrop Buttons
  • “Spicy Sandy” Hot Chocolate

Eat for Equity Heats up the Kitchen in Stamford for 1st Event Benefitting Kids in Crisis

Eat for Equity (see our intro to them) had its first fundraising dinner this past Saturday at a lovely, warm and cozy house in Stamford.  Over 60 people attended, definitely filling up the house, the side rooms, the dining room, and even outside surrounding a fire put.  But, there was plenty of food for every person along with drinks aplenty.  Here’s a recap of the yumminess:

  • Tomato basil soup
  • Gourmet grilled cheese
  • Butternut squash mac and cheese
  • “Fudgy Bites” as quoted by Dan, some said cake bites.  We like the ring of “Fudgy Bites.” 
  • Apple caramel cream cheese cupcakes
  • S’mores by the fire pit outside.

While RJ was working hard cooking during the first E4E event, Meg Dalton was watching people enjoy all her baked goodies that took her quite some time to whip and mix up.  Yeah, they were awesome and so was the food.  The awesome smoked gouda in the grilled cheese came from Grade A Market and much of the other food came from Fairgate Farm.  Conor and crew at Half Full Brewery also filled up some growlers for the event, so you best believe people were converting over to Half Full Hoptimists.
