And, topping off that list is the 7th Annual Greenwich Holiday Stroll Weekend that goes down this year 12/5-6!

Hop, Skip + A Run 5k and Beer Festival from Half Full Brewery Kicks off Summer Right
6 JunTake all that you know and think about 5k races and toss ’em away because Half Full Brewery in Stamford has a brand new experience for you. That experience? The Hop, Skip & A Run 5k Race and Festival that’s coming to Stamford on June 29. The race starts at 17 Harbor Point Road where Paloma will be, goes along the boardwalk, then into Kosciuszko Park. Jordan Giles, Chief Beer Organizer, shared more about the race with us: “Hop Skip & A Run is a truly unique 5K in that participants will literally hop and skip a (small) portion of the route while running the rest. As with nearly everything we do here at the Half Full Brewery, we thought long and hard about how to put our upbeat and positive Half Full spin on the event.”
Avon Theatre teams up with Melt Mobile for showings of Jon Favreau’s Chef
16 May
We heart food trucks…
Thanks to our talented friend Bridget Stokes, we found out about the local release of one of the most anticipated movies in the food scene: Chef. This movie, directed by none other than Jon Favreau (Iron Man Trilogy, The Wolf of Wall Street, Friends) follows Chef Carl Jasper, played by Favreau himself, who quits his job at a very well known LA restaurant. The truth is, he doesn’t want to be controlled, confined, or have his creativity limited. So, he quits his job and says goodbye to the owner (played by Dustin Hoffman) and begins the next chapter of his life in Miami. There in Florida, he teams up with his son, his ex-wife (Sofia Vergara…is this realistic, would you actually divorce her???), and his buddy (John Leguizamo) on a brand new venture: starting his own food truck. From there, Chef Jasper has an awakening, like buddha sitting under the Bodhi tree, reaching enlightenment.

Food Truck Rally in Stamford to Benefit The Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County
18 NovCancel your ho-hum, humdrum lunch plans for Wednesday, 11/20…there’s a food truck rally happening! We’re talking about Connecticut’s favorite lobster rolls from Lobstercraft, the Serious Balls of The Local Meatball, the Caribbean flare of Maddy’s Food Truck, and the ooey gooeyness of the awesome Melt Mobile.
They’ll be hanging out at Harbor Point Circle (that’s the circle in front of The Beer Garden) from 11:30-2 pm, selling lunches and giving back a portion of their sales to The Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County. Both Lobstercraft and Melt Mobile will be giving 10% of all sales, while Maddy’s and The Local Meatball will donate 10% but will kick that up to 20% if they get past $500 in sales.
So, seriously save your lame salad, your boring bologna sandwich, and/or your salt-laden Ramen noodles for another day and get yourself down for a lunch to remember. Big up to Roxy Waters of Castleton Commodities International for organizing this!

Melt Mobile Scores TV Spot for New Bobby Flay Show, Three Days to Open
26 MarUpdate: 3 Days to Open starts July 13 at 10 pm. Melt Mobile is featured on the July 20th episode.
A few weeks ago we got an e-mail from Food Network, asking us to spread the word about Bobby Flay’s new show, 3 Days to Open. He’ll be following, training, and helping out a select group of food entrepreneurs from across the country for his new show (untitled as of now). This open casting call was nationwide and we hoped that somebody from Connecticut would get a spot.
Just a few days after our post about a new gourmet grilled cheese food truck called Melt Mobile coming to Stamford, Darlene Andersen (co-owner) wrote us and said she and Diana Hall (co-owner) would meet with Bobby Flay’s people. Well, it’s official, they will be on Bobby’s new show! We wish them the best and look forward to seeing them on Food Network. Also, we can’t help but think about how awesome those gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches will be…in our bellies.
They will be open for business on March 29 at the Veterans Park/Landmark Square area. Thursday will have a special opening time of 11:30, so be sure to stop by, check out the cheesy goodness, and see why Bobby Flay is so interested in having these two talented women on his show!

Melt Mobile Food Truck Brings Gourmet Grilled Cheese to Stamford, Connecticut
12 MarUpdate: Guess who will be on the new Bobby Flay show, Three Days to Open starting July 20 at 10 pm? Yup, details here about Melt Mobile working with Bobby Flay and the surprise cheese visit.
Last April 1st we told you all about food trucks in Fairfield County, but they were all just cruel April Fool’s jokes. Po’ Po’ Porridge…did you really think this was actually one? Weirdos. Well, Melt Mobile is no joke and is now open.
The original menu had 12 gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, but they’ve tightened things up and are now featuring 8 sandwiches. Now, these aren’t any old ordinary boring grilled cheese sandwiches. These are re-donk-ulous. Plus, they’ve got a killer tomato soup that rocked our worlds. You’ll also be able to build your own sandwich with Applewood smoked bacon, vine-ripened tomatoes, caramelized onions, and sautéed wild mushrooms. When Bobby Flay rolled into town we had all the add-ins and it was an amazing experience. Find Melt Mobile at Veterans Park/Landmark Square on Atlantic Street, across from Old Town Hall. Keep up to date with their FB page and you also might learn about daily specials and even if you can see them during a Friday or Saturday night. Yup. That’s why you’ve gotta check them out.
So, again, the sandwiches look really awesome and here are some of our favorites:
The Meatball 3 Cheese Squeeze: Diana’s meatballs, basil marinara, Parmesan/Romano blend, ricotta, and mozzarella on grilled ciabatta.
The Fluffernutter: creamy peanut butter, melted bittersweet Belgian chocolate, marshmallow fluff, and caramelized bananas on crunch Terra Nova bread sprinkled with powdered sugar.
The Pork-U-Pine: Vermont cheddar, bbq pulled pork, caramelized onions, and sliced dill pickles on buttery grilled country white bread.
***
Please note they donate 2% of their proceeds to Umbrella Club of Stamford, an organization that helps community families and children in need.
So, which sandwich are you going to try first? Confess your love…
