One of two cans left in the Del Ferraro household.
While some of you were at work, taking care of the kids, or chillaxin’ this past vacation, Dan set out on mission: to find some elusive CT-based brews that were just sent from the brewery, namely two from Woodbridge-based New England Brewing Company. During this time they not only released bottles of their Imperial Stout Trooper, but also one of Beer Advocate’s most highly-rated Double IPAs, Gandhi-Bot.
Around this time we heard about a group of people in India filing a petition for New England Brewing to change the name of Gandhi-Bot. At first, the petition could only be found mentioned on a few sites and didn’t seem like a major problem, but last week protesters of Gandhi-Bot turned up the heat by flooding New England Brewing Company’s Facebook page with objections, threats of lawsuits, repeatedly mentioning Mahatma Gandhi’s name, pleas for change, and even a few vague, violent threats.
Clear your calendar for 12/23 at 5 pm, well . . . then you might as well clear your calendar for Christmas Eve, too, because you’re going to need some serious recovery time after you see what Gerard Robertson at Coalhouse Pizza in Stamford has planned for you.
Yes, it’s true: some of New England Brewing’s best beers will be on tap for this special night (we’ll update with the time when we get it). Think of it as Gerard’s Christmas present to you.
Dumb snowstorm. We don’t even know what the ridiculous name of this past storm was (Merlin? Lucius? Voldemort?), but we know that it sucked mainly because it hit the pause button on NEBCO Fest at Little Pub in Ridgefield. But, chill…it was just the pause button. There’s still plenty of New England Brewing Company brews available…and they’ve been aging for an extra day! We bet you can taste that added depth that the day put in.
It’s official! New England Brewing Company has been approved for a brand new spot for their brewery. Their spot right now at 7 Selden Street in Woodbridge worked well for them at a time, but if you’ve been there you know how small the area is. The smaller building makes it harder to not only brew great amounts of types of beer, but also doesn’t provide the kind of experience they’d love to give you for a tasting area. Not that we minded getting some samples of the brews then heading around the brewery on a tour, but the new brewery on 175 Amity Road will be a major game changer for them. Plus it’s just right around the block (literally around the block) so they can probably just carry over all their equipment. ;)
