Ya Man Enough, Brah? Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Fundraiser at The Field and Walk in May

We’re usually a not-so-serious blog, but there’s a time for everything, right?  One thing, in particular, that we’re serious about is a fundraiser that our friend Nikki Edmonds has helped to organize for Walk a Mile in Her Shoes.  We first found out about this great event through, of all people, George Takei.  Yes, he’s normally posting memes that make you laugh or immediately hit the share button on Facebook, but the image of men walking in red heels down a street in Canada stuck with us.  What’s so impressive about this?  It’s part of an international march and series of fundraising events that are put on every year to help raise awareness and put a stop rape, sexual assault, and gender violence.  And, yes, it’s also impressive because men literally walk a mile in the shoes of women, preferably fashionable pumps, kinky boots, or even stilettos for the daring.

And, Connecticut is getting in on Walk a Mile in Her Shoes with a fundraiser at The Field Restaurant (3001 Fairfield Avenue) in Black Rock, that awesome spot between Bridgeport and Fairfield. All you need to do is show up on 4/17 from 6 to 9 pm and you’ll be a part of the action of team Red Stilettos. The Field will be providing snacks and there will be lots of prizes and even a 50/50 raffle.  While there’s no charge for this happy hour fundraiser, a donation of $10 is greatly appreciated.
