Guide to Fall Beer Bashes and Oktoberfests in Fairfield County, CT

6 Sep

People love to drink beer all year round, but once fall comes along something clicks in people’s heads.  We’ll call it the Oktoberfest switch.  It’s the time of year when we think about how we want to be outside, drinking some brews, hanging with friends, and enjoying the crisp cool air.  And while we can’t come close to the madness that is a true German Oktoberfest, we can at least try by celebrating beer with parties and festivals.  You could, of course, go to every single event that we’ve listed, but we won’t be paying for your hospital bills…

2 Good, 2 Frothy: Two Roads 2 Day Ok2berfest

29 Aug

flyer 8.5 x 11

Damn, Ryan’s fine. Look at those lederhosen! Taken from Two Roads’ FB page.

Everything’s coming up 2’s this September as Two Roads Brewery celebrates their first ever Ok2berfest celebration.  We’re talking Two Roads, two bands, two Oktoberfest style beers from Phil Markowski, and two days of action packed madness.  Let’s start with just the basic details:  the when.  We’re talking September 21 or September 22 from 12-6:30…or both days.  Hey, we won’t judge.  Tickets for Ok2berfest are just $15 and that gets you into the doors, gets you some live music (Slavic Soul Party on Saturday), gets you some fun games to play, gets you access to some great food trucks, and (most importantly) gets you a German beer stein.  Achtung baby!  That stein’s gonna get heavy after a day of brews!  Oh, and did we mention that Master Brewer Phil Markowski (he was most recently at Southampton Publick House and wrote the book Farmhouse Ales) has two special Oktoberfest beers?  Yes, we did…hmm, must be the six pack of Roadsmary’s Baby talking.

Get an Exclusive Deal on Biergarten on the Green in Westport

15 Oct

We’ll just cut to the chase here, no flowery language, no extended metaphors, no crazy stories:  Bob LeRose of Bobby Q’s and Bar Q is one of our most favoriterest people in the world! When Dan couldn’t finish the Pitmaster Platter, he offered to give him a shirt.  He has allowed us to be judges at Blues, Views, & BBQ for two years in a row.  And, frankly folks, he’s a class act.  So, when we found out that he was the brains and brawn behind Biergarten on the Green on 10/27 from 1-4, one of the events of the Downtown Westport Foodie Fest, we knew that we had to help spread the word.

You’ll get an oh so cute tasting mug, a fancy box lunch filled with sausage, pretzels, and other German goodies, and lots of beer to taste.  All of this for $35 online or $40 the day of the event.  But, we’ve got a special deal for you from our friends at BEVBUCKS (see our intro to them)You’ll pay just $27.50 when you purchase your ticket here.  Quite a nice deal, huh?

Octoberfest.  Oktoberfest.  Spell it however you’d like, it still revolves around a few key things:

Well, guess what?  There will be plenty of Octoberfestivities going on at the Stamford Museum & Nature Center on Friday night, 10/19 from 6:30 – 9:30 pm.  So, bring your buds, take your date, leave the kids at home (21+), and put on those lederhosen.  When you are there, all decked out with those really cool feathery hats, you’ll be able to take down some amazing Octoberfest food.  Yup, SM&NC has the best of the wurst and even more.  Bottomline:  you’ll be fed and fed oh so well, German style.  But, you can’t munch on some BBQ or a brat (the sausage, not a bad child) and have nothing to drink.  That would be a serious travesty!  The good folks at the Nature Center have you covered with excellent seasonal Oktoberfest brews, don’t worry.  Now, when you’ve got some food in the left hand and a stein in the right hand, move that beer back and forth while you jam away and sing along to The Bavarian Boys.

Tickets are for people 21 years or older, $50 in advance or $65 at the door.  Hint, pay for the ticket in advance and save $15.  Yeah, we’re good at math and stuff. :)   Just bring your ID with the name that you paid for tickets with and you’ll get a wristband.  So what will the 50 bucks getcha?
