Swig + Swine @ Captain Lawrence Brewery Pig Roast 2014

9 May

Update:  we confirmed with Captain Lawrence and, yes…you’ll be happy…beer drinkage is unlimited with ticket purchase.  Sorry for any confusion.

Finally, it’s almost May 17…that time of year when Captain Lawrence Brewery in nearby Elmsford, NY puts on its annual Pig Roast…the 8th annual, to be exact. Tickets are pretty damn cheap, clocking in at only $15 if you’re a designated driver (includes unlimited non-alcoholic beverages, entertainment + brewery pass for the entire day) or $30 if you’re in it to get some drinking done (same as designated, but includes unlimited brews). The pig roast is going on from 12-6 pm and will be a blast for lots of reasons:

Pig Out @ Farmboys BBQ’s First Anniversary at Michaels II Cafe in Danbury

17 Oct

Round up y’ur family and friends and head on down to Michaels II Cafe for the One Year Anniversary party of Farmboys Smokin’ BBQ.  They got their start at Michaels II, actually, having their BBQ be a part of the menu from time to time.  Since then, though, they’ve become very popular (nearly 2,000 likes on Facebook) and are booked solid.  We’re talking parties, catering, special events, brewery stops, and food events.  Oh, and only the best gig ever…catering Kristien’s killer birthday party over the summer.  Trust us, we all ate like royalty and people really dug all the food.

So, want a piece of the BBQ action?  Just head out to Michaels II on 10/19, starting at 5 pm and find yourself a seat.  Farmboys will be there, getting the food ready and sending it out to the kitchen.  First off, we’re talking about what they’ve become so famous for…their pig roasts.  The delicately smoked pork will be served to you in pulled pork sandwich form with a side of coleslaw and a side of baked beans with brown sugar and bacon.  There will also be smoked pulled chicken on the menu too, so keep your eyes out.  But, let’s let you in on a little secret that only the elite Facebook followers of Farmboys know:  they are making a secret menu item for that day.  It’s their smoked pulled beef and they don’t have huge amounts of it.  So, if you want some of that chuck roll, get down as early as possible so that you can devour it.

Congratulations on your first year in business, Farmboys!  We can’t wait to see what you’ll be doing in your second year!

Captain Lawrence Taps Into a Cure and Hosts Pig Roast – Elmsford, NY

19 Jun

Ready for two weekends of events at Captain Lawrence Brewing Company in Elmsford, just over the border in New York?  Of course you are…dumb question!

This Saturday, 6/22, marks the return of Captain Lawrence Brewing Company’s annual pig roast.  The fun goes on for six hours straight from 12-6 pm and is $40 per person online or is $50 at the door.  Your ticket purchase includes entrance to the pig roast, beer, music, cornhole, bocce, and even transportation from the Port Chester, Tarrytown, and North White Plains train stations.  Music will be provided by Rebecca Haviland & Whiskey Heart, Evan Watson’s Old Orchard Band, and Brooklyn Sugar Company.  The roast pig and other BBQ goodness will be provided by Village Dog of Tarrytown at an additional cost, but remember that your entrance fee gets you tastes of classic CLBC brews as well as some great new ones.  Think of it this way:  after just 7 brews, you’ve already made up the cost.  Besides, you’ll be helping raise money (Project Barn Raiser) for Hemlock Hill.  Buy your tickets here:  http://clbcpigroast.bpt.me.  Just a few notes:  you can park off of Executive Boulevard because they’ll be closing up their parking lot so people can hang out and chill.  You need to be 21 or older to attend and need to bring valid ID.

Barcelona hosts Memorial Day BBQ and pig roasts all summer long

15 May

Memorial Day and BBQs…they are inseparable like peanut butter and jelly, Batman and Robin, Lewis and Clark, Ren & Stimpy, bread and butter, and even pasta and sauce.  Perhaps they go so well together because BBQ’n brings family and friends together outside for good times, good fun, and good eats?  In essence, the grill unites people and connects us through our basic needs of friendship and food.

But, what do you do if you don’t have a grill or just want to go out and celebrate?  Easy…you head over to Barcelona Wine Bar & Restaurant in Fairfield on 5/27 from 1-9 pm.  For just $20 or $10 for kids (that’s a nice deal, btw) you’ll get a BBQ buffet that consists of sliders, kebabs, ribs, grilled veggies, salads, and their famous suckling pig.  For the beer lover, they’ll also have tastings from one of our favorite local breweries, Captain Lawrence.  They’ll have face painting for the kids (or that cool hipster) from 1:30-4:30, they’ll have outdoor games (cornhole please!), and they will even have a lemonade/popsicle/ice cream stand.  And, what’s a BBQ without live music?  Barcelona will have Rick Reyes & The Pasonfino Social Club playing from 2-6 while you chat, chew, and chill.

Summer, outdoor dining, Captain Lawrence beer, pig roast? There! Coalhouse Pizza–Stamford, CT

26 May

Rain, rain go away, come again…screw that, never come again!  Haven’t you just about had it with the rain lately and all the bleakness that not even an emo kid could handle? Well, summer’s just around the corner and so are the great outdoor dining and beer paired events that Coalhouse Pizza has to offer.  This time around, June 20, we’ve got a pig roast featuring the brews of Captain Lawrence Brewing Company from nearby Pleasantville, NY.  A couple of months back we tried their Imperial (Double) IPA and it’s killah, wicked killah.  The courses highlight some of the great tastes of summer including a nice Mexican corn on the cob and an oh so slow roasted pork with smoked baked beans.  The dessert, as always, looks like it’ll be freaking redonkulous.

Scott Vacarro, the owner and brewmaster of Captain Lawrence Brewing Company will be on hand to talk about his beers and so that you may bow to him in holy reverence.  To cover up the noise of people pigging out (pun intended), classic rockers Tired on Sunday will be performing live.  Tickets, as always with Gerard’s events, are going fast.

June 20, 7 pm

$65 per person

Beer club members get 10% off ticket price…do the math punks, that’s $6.50 off.
