Two Roads Celebrates First Year with Anniversary Session IPA

Two Roads Anniversary Session IPA

One year?

Holy crap, we swore Two Roads Brewing Company in Stratford had been open for at least a few years, but no.  It’s only been a year.  Maybe we think that because they’ve crammed so many events and beer releases into those 365 days.

Well, add one more brew to that list!  That’s right, come down to Two Roads today to get a pint, growlito, or even a growler of their brand new  Anniversary Session IPA…it’s made with Mosaic and Azacca hops.  Like any of their limited release beers, this will be sold out super quickly, so make sure to get down to Stratford.

Brew-view: Roadsmary’s Baby – Two Roads Brewery – Stratford, CT

29 Aug

Our search for the brand new release of Roadsmary’s Baby started this past Friday when this Two Roads brew was first released.  See, we had just moved into an apartment building that people had warned us about.  Apparently a beer writer used to live there that went crazy and began worshipping the devil.  We had heard of other strange things, but we decided that these things only added more character to the building.  Plus, we’d have lots of crazy stories to tell people when they came over to visit.  People were strange and suspicious that we met there, but life was good still. Well, that’s until Kristien was drugged then was taken advantage by a demonic force. Dan seemed to care, but after the birth he stole the baby away to share with his fellow devil worshippers. This child would be the future ruler of the world, fathered by Satan himself.  Or, something like that. And, that’s about when Two Roads heard about our story and decided to create a beer in honor of our tragically demonic story.  Or, something like that.

Brew-view: Conntucky Lightnin’ from Two Roads Brewing Co. – Stratford, CT

Ride the Lightning! (Please don’t sue us Lars)

We love how Connecticut is becoming a beerophiles dream state.  Breweries are popping up all over and there are always new ones in the works.  Since it opened, Two Roads in Stratford has been putting out some great brews and the brewery itself is definitely a sight to see.  Our last brew-view focused on Ryan and the Beaster Bunny, a saison that is brewed at Two Roads for Eviltwin Brewing.  Yeah, the brewery is that massive that they can brew for other companies.  We’ve had all of their brews, but when a new one comes out, we feel it is our personal responsibility to consume and to consume well.  And, a new brew did come along, so our search for Conntucky Lightnin’ took us straight to the brewery in Stratford after we had some killer balls from The Local Meatball and talked with Emily of Two Roads for a bit.  But, sadly, that would not be the end of our journey…

Two Roads Brewery Launches Igor’s Dream with Special Guests Igor and Nikolai Sikorsky

14 Mar

“The work of the individual still remains the spark that moves mankind ahead even more than teamwork” (Igor Sikorsky).

Sikorsky.  That last name is synonymous with achievement and man’s urge to fly into the heavens.  Igor Sikorsky.  Put quite simply, he changed the world, helping to perfect the helicopter and moving the flight industry forward to dazzling heights.  His sparks of brilliance, creativity, and ingenuity lit the way to fuel our dreams.  And, even in 2013, he continues to inspire us…

One person who was particularly inspired was Phil Markowski, brewmaster extraordinaire at Two Roads Brewing Company in Stratford.  Thinking back to Igor’s Russian heritage (he was from Kiev), he decided to create a Russian Imperial Stout…an Unorthodox Imperial Stout:  Igor’s Dream.  We’re talking a Russian Imperial Stout that’s aged in rye whiskey barrels and that tops in at a whopping 10.9% ABV.  Strong, just like Igor, huh?

Igor’s Dream has been poured into 25 ouncers and are being sold for $20.  The bottles will be dated based on their vintage, will be hand numbered, and are corked up, too.  You can buy Igor’s Dream on March 23, starting at 9 am.  There’s a limit to three bottles per person because there are just 1,000 bottles.  So, you can get one for yourself, another for yourself, and one more for yourself.  Maybe if someone was really nice you can consider giving them a bottle…maybe.

But, Two Roads has another amazing surprise in store!  Starting at 10 am, Igor Sikorsky Jr. and Nikolai Sikorsky will be there for the launch of Igor’s Dream and will be autographing bottles and special labels created just for this momentous occasion.  Also, they’ll be speaking about their dad and about the awesome history and future of Sikorsky!

You’ll definitely want to get into the brewery early, get your bottles, then get on line to meet the Sikorsky brothers.
