Hobbit Juice DIPA, one of the legendary beers from Beer’d Brewing that people go crazy for.

When we broke the news about Beers at the Beach, the reaction from CT beer lovers was staggering. People were not only excited about a summer time series of beer fests centered around one local brewery that we don’t see too much of in Fairfield County, but also excited to spend some QT at Calf Pasture Beach while nomming on summer classics. And people flipped out, rightfully so, when we shared that Beer’d Brewing would be on hand for the first event on June 11, starting at 6:30.

Pig Out w/ Black Hog and W2CT Pig Roast + Cornhole Tourney

13 Apr

CORN HOLE BROWN NEW

Before the uber-successful Black Hog Brewing opened up in Oxford, we had the chance to talk with Jason Sobocinski (one of the owners along with his brother Tom and headbrewer Tyler Jones). We asked where the name Black Hog came from and he shared that it’s another name for the Berkshire pig and invokes memories like pig roasts and events that bring people together.

Black Hog Brewing in Oxford, CTWell, Black Hog Brewing is bringing that fun vibe in by teaming up with Ken Tuccio from the Welcome to Connecticut Podcast for The 1st Annual Flag Day Cornhole Tournament and Pig Roast.

Ken Tuccio of Welcome 2 CT Podcast Talks CT Beer Summit; Why CT Beer + Food Rules

26 Feb

OM NOM KEN TUCCIO PICTURE

Connecticut has so many great food-related stories to tell, whether it’s how a small restaurant owner got his start, a chef who became known across the state, even the country, or a person who started a brewery with a kernel of hope and a lot of luck. Thankfully we have some great platforms in CT to share those stories, from town papers like the Stamford Advocate, state magazines like Connecticut Magazine, food bloggers like ourselves to Ken Tuccio’s Welcome to Connecticut Podcast.

Ken started his podcast back in March of 2014, and it has been growing ever since. It’s no wonder since he’s been able to land some pretty fantastic interviews like Dennis Haskins aka Mr. Belding, Stew Leonard, Aarón Sánchez, and Jerry Springer. It was his love of beer, however, that has made magic happen. Yep, because of his love of beer, Ken has featured many brewers and brewery owners on his show which helped him land his sold-out CT Beer Summit right at Two Roads. We had a chance to turn the tables and ask him questions (he interviewed us on his podcast for New Years Day) about his love of CT food and beer, the future of his podcast, and how you can take part in the CT Beer Summit even if you can’t attend.

Check it out:
