Bistro 7 in Wilton Grand Reopening Party w/ New Chefs + Menu

30 Sep

Bistro 7 in Wilton invites you to their Grand Re-Opening celebration dinner on October 9 with seatings at 5:30, 7, and 8:30. Meals are $39 per person, include a cocktail from the new beverage menu created by Front of House Manager Cristian Caldarariu, and also include tastes of what’s new at Bistro 7.

So, why exactly are they re-opening and celebrating? Well, there’s a few things going on:

1) Chef Tony Kalmanidis is leaving to start up some awesome food trucks. It’s always nice to give props where props are due.

2) Chef Marcelino Martinez is becoming the new Chef de Cuisine. He’s no stranger to Bistro 7, though, having already been a pastry chef and sous chef there.

3) Chef Harrison Schaefer will start as the new sous chef.

4) They are revamping the menu for the season, for what’s locally available, and to jive with both new chefs.

5) Bistro 7 continues its support of local produce and products by working with Debra Sloane of Sloane Farm and Donna Simmons of Pound Ridge Organics among others.

From open hours and afterschool activities to weekend events, Trackside supports Wilton teens in developmental tasks by providing them a place within the community, other than home and school, where they can be involved in healthy socialization and gain experience in participating as a citizen in a productive manner.”

Food and Bubbles

Little Pub will be on hand, offering up some of their best dishes for you to nom away on during the bazaar.  Spiked Seltzer, which we wrote about yesterday, will be there giving you samples of their bubbly, refreshing, all-natural, adult beverages.  Also, Dough & Co. from Rowayton will be there with some cookies, lots of baked goodies, and more.  Plus, you’ll be able to purchase things like popcorn, water, and other snacks.

The Lost and Found Bazaar has plenty of fun for kids and big kids of all ages.  There will be face painting, hourly Cake Walks with prizes provided by Dough & Co., chances for kids to Go Fish! for prizes, and our favorite game of all time…cornhole!

Take a Taste of Wilton’s Best Food and Drinks for Chump Change

6 Jun

We like restaurant weeks, but what we really love are events that bring entire towns or cities together for a massive party.  Just think about it:  you get to walk around a room, eat food, drink wine, beer, and liquor, chit, and chat.  This is really the best way to get to try out a town’s best food, all in one night.  And, the 6th Annual Taste of Wilton will do all that…and more!  Just show up to the Trackside Teen Center on 6/17 from 5:30-8:30, pay just $30, and you’ll get to taste the best of what Wilton (and some nearby areas) has to offer.  This is another great idea for Father’s Day…just sayin’!

Here are all the restaurants and drink providers you can expect (and there might be more added, too):

Sunset Dinner w/ Drinks and Bites in the Garden at Ambler Farm in Wilton

14 May

Around this time last year we headed up to Ambler Farm in Wilton to take part in Bull N’ Brew.  The farm was beautiful and the night was just perfect, set off by good wine, beer, and food from Super Duper Weenie.  And, just about a year later Ambler Farm is holding another event…a much anticipated annual event.

We are talking about their Annual Sunset Dinner, this year called An Evening in the Garden at Ambler Farm.  The dinner will be held on June 15th from 6-10 pm and will take place inside their new educational gardens.  Program Manager Kevin Meehan not only developed these gardens, but has also tended them carefully—he did get some help from students, though.  :)  Tickets, which are soon to go fast, go on sale 5/15.  Tickets are $95 for members or $110 for non-members.  There will be lots of cocktails, little bites of goodness, and a whole buncha live music from local musicians.  After the little “garden hour,” guests will be treated to a full four course dinner from Bistro du Soleil as the sun sets.  And, in true farm dinner fashion, Bistro du Soleil will be using a good deal of Ambler Farm’s organic produce for the meal!  The lovely people at Ambler Farm were kind enough to share the menu with us, so we’ll share it with you:

Sixpoint Brewery Can-to-table Dinner @ Bistro 7 in Wilton

7 Mar

Sixpoint Brewery is pretty new to the Connecticut market, but that hasn’t stopped it from becoming all the buzz.  We had our first taste of Sixpoint last year when we tried out around 50 different custom brews (some made with lobster, some made with oyster, even some made with saffron) for their annual Beer for Beasts event in Brooklyn.  If you’re interested, it’s going down again this year with tons of brews and food trucks on hand all to support The Humane Society of NY.

Grilled octopus at Bistro 7 in Wilton Connecticut OmNomCTBut we’re not writing today to tell you about Beer for Beasts, we’re here to let you know about a beer dinner at Bistro 7, Farm-to-Fork Restaurant + Bar in Wilton.  When we went to Bistro 7 a few months ago we really enjoyed the food and think that this will be a killer dinner.  The Spring Tasting Dinner will be on March 28 from 5-10:30 pm, will be $45 per person, and will require reservations so get on that…chop chop.

From the looks of the dishes, beer is being used in very fun, creative, and unexpected ways.  So, let’s gander at the menu:

Mussels in “Bengali” Broth, Paired with The Crisp

Mussels steamed in Sixpoint Bengali Tiger and curry broth, shallots, lime, lemon grass, organic yellow potato, organic ginger, beer buttered baguette.
