Wined Down Fridays: Painting and BYOB at The Giggling Pig

20 Mar

Living Social has a great deal going on now at The Giggling Pig in Shelton.  For just $12 (normally $25), you’ll get to take part in a Paint & Sip BYOB painting class.  These fun events where you bring your own bottle are held every Friday from 7-9 pm.  You don’t need to bring any supplies at all, either!  Artist Gail Bell, a landscape painter, will be hosting the class.  If this is something you really love, there’s the option to sign up for the entire month, too.  If you do that, you’ll get $5 off each class.  Quite a nice deal!

If you’re concerned about being a beginner and not knowing how to paint, don’t worry.  Gail will teach you the tricks of the trade.  Plus, think about it.  Everybody will be drinking wine and beer, so if someone appears to be better to you, blame it on drinking too much liquor.  Or, give those people more liquor so that your skills start to match up!  See, it’s a win-win!

Surf’s Up @ Summer Beach Food + Wine Tasting to Benefit United Way – Calf Pasture Beach, CT

25 May

We know where you’ll be Tuesday, 6/12 from 6-8 pm:  Stew Leonard’s Grill at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk.  Drink this up:  over 75 different beers and wines to taste.  Many of the wines to be sampled are Connecticut produced, and lots of the beer is also local and actually microbrew.  Don’t stop there, though.  Stew Leonard’s will have lots of food to munch on:

Crudités basket with two dips, international cheese platter with artisan bread, an assortment of sliders, mini lobster rolls, mini crab cakes, California rolls with ginger sauce, Sicilian bruschetta, and marinated grilled shrimp with wasabi sauce.

So, you’ve got the food, you’ve got the drinks…what else would make this perfect?  Yup, some tunes!  The local legend, P.J. Pacifico, will be performing live…it’s just one more reason to head down.  In addition, you’ll be able to take part in a silent auction and a Chinese raffle.  All proceeds from the 8th Annual Beach Food & Wine Tasting will go towards United Way of Coastal Fairfield County.  Danny particularly loves this charity because they help to make sure that at risk children do well in school and are prepared for a successful life.

Stew Leonard Jr. says that this is one of the most popular events that they hold each year and that it sells out quickly.  So, Omnomivores and changemakers, get your tickets today.  They are $40 a person and can be purchased at Stew Leonard’s Wines of Norwalk, by clicking here, or by contacting Mary Magner of United Way of Coastal Fairfield County at (203) 339-6308.
