This is the Cinco de Mayo party that’s too big for just one day. This is the Cinco de Mayo party to end all Cinco de Mayo parties. Yeah, seriously…Bodega Taco Bar in Darien and Fairfield are doing it right this year with lots of omnom-like things going down. First off, let’s start with the times: Saturday (5/4) from noon to midnight and Sunday (5/5) from noon to 8. Okay, let’s get into the yummy deets:
- Tequila tastings (worm and Pee Wee Herman not included.)
- Pig roast prepared in a custom La Caja China Roasting Box (Saturday.)
- Taco Eating Contest (definitely Saturday, maybe Sunday. When you get there, you’ll sign up. We’ll update this for you when we get more info.)
- Mariachi Band on Sunday afternoon
- “Guacamole Slapping” demonstration (maybe you slap it because it’s soooo good, but is fattening? Interested to see.)
- Drink specials (you know you have to celebrate with some margaritas, right?)
- Live music and dancing (agitarlo como una foto Polaroid.)
Chef Michael Young (we got to chill for a bit at Chowdafest 2013 and had a ball) and Chef Luis Chavez will also have all their regular amazing tacos and dishes. Plus, after that tequila tasting, try out the other 60 that they have. This is the perfect opportunity for us because we haven’t been to the Bodega Taco Bar in Darien yet. Salida de campo!
p.s. You’re awesome if you either know what the Spanish phrases are that we used or if you actually looked them up.
El burro lleva un suéter porque hace frío en el refrigerador.

Hey, no problem at all, Linda. We love Bodega and Cinco de Mayo and want to make sure that people have a chance to experience these two fun days. What kind of pics we talking? If they are pictures of whole pigs being roasted, that’s okay. It scares us. :)

YUmmmmm!!! I went there for the first time last week and loved it! Have you tried their baby cabbages!?
I’m definitely going to be celebrating there!

Cool, cool. :) We haven’t had the baby cabbages yet, though. :( Weren’t you on a hunt for restaurants that served them recently? :)

Yes! The tour has started! So far we’ve been to Harlan Social, The Whelk and Bodega. I’ve only recapped Harlan on the blog so far. The others are coming. :)

Do yourself a major flavor and check out COALS in Port Chester for the most seriously wicked sick plate of Brussels sprouts EVER! Bar Sugo also has a really nice version, too.

I’ve heard good things, but I wouldn’t be able to include them because it’s not Fairfield County. :( I will definitely check it out regardless. And Patsy said brussels sprouts out of season so they’re not on the menu right now. whomp whomp.

Oh, yeah…that FFLD Cty thing :P Well, definitely check it out at Coals when you get the chance, and get their wings, and their duck bacon, too. :)
