Every year we look forward to a massive event that helps us get through winter. No, we’re not talking about football: we’re talking about the Chocolate, Dessert & Wine Lover’s Evening! This year is the 8th year . . . and it will definitely prove to be even better than the rest! 

The action is going down on February 4 from 6-9 at the Stamford Marriot Hotel & Spa with all proceeds going directly to Shelter for the Homeless. There will be over 70 different dessert, chocolate, food, and adult drink vendors on hand to help ya warm up. In addition, there will be entertainment and tips from host Chef Plum, music, a 50/50 raffle, door prizes, and even chances to shop for Valentine’s Day gifts for your precious little love. Tickets are $45 per person or $80 if you buy them in pairs: perfect for a Valentine’s Day treat. Continue reading

Getting “intimate” at The Whelk’s new themed dinner series

“I always wanted to draw,” Chef Bill Taibe of The Whelk shrugged off, “but I couldn’t.” When he discovered his love of cooking and went to school, he realized something great: “This is my art, this is how I draw.”

This is one of the many interesting things we learned about Chef Taibe’s perspective. Perhaps it’s that perspective, that open-mindedness that makes him such an amazing chef and restaurateur. It’s lead him to branch out from owning leFarm, to then opening The Whelk, and then to opening up Kawa Ni with his brother Jeff–three AMAZING restaurants! And although he recently sold leFarm to Chef Brian Lewis, he’s not done with his evolution and experimentation. Continue reading

Ladies and gents, we’re just about to wrap up the last full week of summer 2015, but there’s no reason to be sad. Turn that frown upside down because the weather’s been beautiful and there’s still so much to do. So, let’s take Fairfield County and the rest of the state by storm and hit up all these great events, drink all of this great beer, and try out all this killer food. Also, remember we had a ton of events listed from last week’s post that are going down this weekend! 

9/18-19 Boothbay Lobster Company food truck will be making the rounds in Stamford, so check out their lobster rolls. Today they’ll be outside of the Sign of the Whale from 4-10 and on Saturday they will be there from 5-11. Continue reading

So, people: chill. Summer goes until September 22, so stop saying that summer’s over. And, with the crazy amount of events, deals, special events, brunches, and beer goodness, it’s clear that summer’s alive and well. This is really an amazing list this week and we hope that you get to do even do a 1/4 of the things that we’ve planned out for you here. Connecticut Chefs Challenge 2015: Save the Date + Callout to Chef Competitors

We already have September 18 at 7 pm blocked off on our calendar because that’s when the 5th Annual Connecticut Chefs Challenge goes down! Fairfield County’s best chefs will be competing at Lincoln Culinary Institute in Shelton to take him the much-coveted “Best in Show” title. What’s great is that when you attend, you get to taste everything and vote along side a guest judge panel. Tickets are not on sale yet, but you’ll soon be able to find them here and a portion of the sales will go directly to The Optimus Foundation that helps to construct and maintain medical facilities throughout the 203 for communities that need the support.

CT Open House Day 2015: A Food and Drink Guide to Free Events and Tastings

We’re very excited to share some fun news with all our awesome readers: we’ve been invited by the Connecticut Office of Tourism to share all things food and drink around the Nutmeg State as official CT Correspondents for their Visit Connecticut program. And to kick it off, we have the deets on their much anticipated yearly CT Open House Day experience. Here’s how it works:

On June 13, you, your friends, and/or your family can check out an amazing variety of participating places throughout the state at no cost at all. Of course, we’re just featuring the participating food and drink places below, but this Open House event includes businesses throughout the state from museums like The Aldrich and Stepping Stones, to interactive parks like Dinosaur State Park, to historic homesteads like Nathan Hale Homestead, so no matter what your thing is, you’re sure to find it as part of this awesome event.
