Paired Founders Brewing Dinner @ Mill Street Bar + Table (Yes, There’ll Be KBS)

3 Jun

One of our favorite new restaurants in Fairfield County comes from the creative mind of Chef Geoff Lazlo: Mill Street Bar & Table. It’s located just a short hop skip and a jump away from where we’re living and is nestled close by the Greenwich/PoCho border. And, it’s no stranger to anyone who’s been reading our blog, as we’ve given it an exclusive preview before opening, a full-out pigged-out review, and named it Best Burger and Best New American in the 2015 OmNomy Awards.

Food Trucks, J House Bar, After Parties + More @ Greenwich Polo Club 2015

2 Jun

Going out to the Greenwich Polo Club grounds to watch a polo match is one of those things that you must do at least a few times a year. Not only is it a quintessential Connecticut way to spend a day, it’s also a great time to spend some time with some friends. Entry is free, but you just need to pay $40 to park for lawn spots (there are other options too), so it pays to carpool. You can start arriving at 1 to get in, set up, and get comfy, and the match begins at 3.

Now, this season will be even more awesome for a few reasons.

7 Courses to Celebrate La Soirée Printanière at Bistro Versailles in Greenwich

24 Mar

As we approach our 10 year wedding anniversary and Dan approaches his 40th birthday (shhh, don’t you dare say a thing), we’re thinking that we want to go all out for our next vacation. We’ve been debating back and forth where we should go: Brazil, Chile, Morocco, Greenland, Germany, Sweden? All these spots have some great things to them, but we think we’ve narrowed down our choice to France! We’re going for the food, the art, the culture, the cheese (different kind of culture) and . . . oh yes, the wine!

Pickle Box Sandwich Co. Launches in Greenwich; Deals Galore

15 Jan
Great news for the breakfast and lunch crowd in and around Greenwich: Leafline Salad, located at 41 Greenwich Avenue, has expanded their reach. Known for their awesome salads (their own creations or you can make your own), soups, and snacks, Leafline is offering more to customers through Pickle Box Sandwich Co., located right inside of their Greenwich Avenue location.

Like Leafline, you can order pick up, delivery via Seamless.com, or can eat in. Some of the options that we can’t wait to try are Chips & Dip, salads and sides, Chef Crafted Sandwich Boxed Lunches, Craft Your Own Sandwich Boxed Lunches, and Sweet/Savory Snacks. In terms of choices, the Boxed Lunches seem to stand out to us the most because they include a complete meal from $8.99-$10.99. We’re excited to try the Meat and Potatoes that comes with Roast Beef, Provolone, sea salt potato chips, onion and horseradish mayo, all served on sourdough. But, just as exciting is the Saddled Reuben that features roast turkey, Swiss, horseradish coleslaw, BBQ chips, and pickled Russian dressing on marble rye. Also of note is that there are plenty of vegetarian and even vegan options, too.

Christmas time comes but once a year . . . and the same is true about the Greenwich Reindeer Festival and Town Stroll. Being Greenwich residents, we’re happy to report that we went last year and we had a blast. Yes, it’s true that one of our major highlights was getting cupcakes off of a food truck, but we’re a bit food-obsessed and crazy-headed.

So, we’re excited to share that the fun is back this year! Just look at some of the major highlights:

Providing you with awesome breakfasts, lunches, and dinners will be Lobstercraft, Fryborg, The Buzz Truck, Tandoori, and Melt Mobile!

Greenwich Baptist Church Taste of Christmas Tent

Warm up and get into the holiday mood with plenty of yummy and warm Christmas treats. Stop by Saturday from 10-6 and Sunday from 12-5.

And there’s even more going on that we can’t even begin to describe like a Live Nativity scene, horse drawn carriage rides, live holiday music, a bouncy castle, ice sculpting, free art exhibitions, and a Candlelight Open House. Check out more details here and this interactive map that you can bring up on your phone when you’re walking around to bring you to the next deal, free samples, special, event, or food truck. Happy Holidays, people! :)

Major Noms and Fun @ Greenwich Wine + Food Festival 2014: A Full Recap

29 Sep

We’ve just woken up from our food and drink coma courtesy of the 4th Annual Greenwich Wine & Food Festival. To us, as our friend Ken Tuccio who runs the Welcome to Connecticut Podcast said when we saw him on Saturday, this event is our Super Bowl. Seriously, right? There are great drinks to drink, awesome local restaurants and chefs to get to know, plenty of celebrity food people to interact with, and plenty of good vibes going around all in the name of raising money for Paul Newman’s Hole in the Wall Gang. All in all, this was our favorite year of attending and we feel like the festival was stronger than ever.  Here’s our four cents (we both get 2 cents to share, see?) about all three days of events that we were fortunate enough to attend.

Morello Bistro: Old World Italian Charm with a Modern Twist – Greenwich, CT

28 Aug

Exterior Morello Bistro Greenwich

From the outside, Morello Bistro in Greenwich appears to be a cute, maybe even unassuming restaurant with a brown and white awning and a few outdoor tables.  But, as you enter, the beautiful domed ceilings, archways, terra-cotta colored columns, and second-level balcony really set the mood for a contrasting old world, yet modern Italian experience. We were excited to have that experience again when General Manager, James Branigan invited us for a special tasting since we haven’t been to Morello Bistro since the first time we tasted their menu back in November ’12 when Chef Pasternack ran the kitchen.

We started the night chatting with Olivier Flosse, Beverage Director for MARC (Mardon Abela Restaurant Corporation).  Not only is Olivier in charge of wine and cocktails at Morello, but also A Voce, Bistro du Midi, and FPB. We loved talking with Oliver because he oozed passion and excitement for his job! We talked about wine, cocktails, and his pairings for the night as he shared insights and observations in the world of adult beverages. He talked about how cocktails seem to be returning to classic liquors, how St. St. Germain has made a huge comeback in cocktails because it is, in the words of Olivier, “pure and elegant.” And, he kinda blew our minds when he told us about a cocktail that he has at A Voce:  Il Tartufo.  It’s made with a 10 year bourbon infused with three different vermouths and black truffles.  Then, they put white truffle honey on one side of the rim…DAMN!

Well, enough foreplay, let’s get down to business:
