We’re Hotsy for Breakfast Sammies @ Garden Catering = Damn Good Breakfast

It only took us a week after Garden Catering on Hamilton Avenue in Greenwich reopened to get down there for breakfast. Yes, we know they are the home of nuggets, but we are breakfast sandwich fiends (or sammies as we like to call them). In fact, if you had asked us if we’d rather give up our beloved sammies or lunch, we’d say sayonara mid-day meal . . . no one needs you when you can have eggs, bacon, chili, cheese, and in the middle of a big ‘ole doughy roll.

Tavern 489: Warm + Cozy Mountain Lodge Dining Coming to Stamford

Having just come back from winter vacation in Lake Placid where the temperature dropped to -30 (it was so cold our dog couldn’t and wouldn’t poop), then to Vermont to get a ski run in, we can appreciate warm and cozy. Really, there’s nothing like that coming in from the cold kinda feeling. And, while Stamford doesn’t have the rolling Green Mountains or the cascading Adirondacks, it will soon have a new restaurant that picks up that mountain lodge kinda vibe.

1/15 Harvest Westport is officially opening tomorrow at 5 with walk-in spots only at this time.

1/16-17 TruNorth Tavern & Table in Black Rock has $15 bottomless mimosas and bloodys from 11-3 for brunch. Get you some.

Chocopologie knows what’s up!

1/17 Don’t forget that South End in New Canaan is open for brunch starting at 11:30. One of the dishes: Mexican Breakfast tacos that come with fresh salsa and potatoes on the side.

 

1/20 Chocopologie in SoNo is hosting a chocolate AND bourbon tasting class. Oh, hot damn, yes. In addition, there will be hors d’oeuvre and champagne before the tasting. It’s $89 all in. Get your spot by emailing chocopologie@mail.com.

CT Food News: Parties, Dinners, Openings, Jobs, Beer Releases + More – 1/8/16

We’ve got lots of great celebrations, dinners, restuarant openings, job opportunties, new brewery hours, CT and other domestic beer releases, and more. Yup, that’s right: we’re starting 2016 off right with the biggest and freshest collection of events, deals, and beer info for Fairfield County. 

1/8 Celebrate two years of Little Barn in Westport with their Barn Burner party! The DJ starts spinning at 9, there will be an outdoor ice bar, and if you hang with them until late, there will be free late night snacks.

1/13 Fleishers Craft Kitchen in Westport is hosting a series of four-course beer dinners featuring local breweries and amazing, local food. The first night is New England Brewing at 7 with a reception starting at 6:30. Tix are $125 $90 per person and can bought here when they go live.

Forgive us readers, for we have sinned. It has been far too long since our last visit to South End Uncorked over the summer when we tried their cocktails and we must confess, we were complete idiots to wait this long. Why? Because (spoiler alert) it’s amazing! Not that we had any doubt since we’ve experienced the magic of Chef (and owner) Nick Martschenko and Director of Operations and mixologist extraordinaire Michelle Mauro at their other New Canaan restaurant, South End. 

2nd Annual Greenwich Restaurant Week Gives Ya Deals in Our Hood!

Like we said when we broke the news about The Granola Bar coming to Greenwich this winter, we are ever impressed about the new talented chefs that are coming into The Gateway to the Gold Coast. Now more than ever, Greenwich is becoming a culinary force to be reckoned with and we’re pretty damn happy that we live here to witness the growth firsthand.

This week’s gonna be a humongo news post because we’ll be away next week in Cape Cod and Portland, checking out the food and drinking scene, checking out lighthouses by bike, and just chilling. 8/21 Pimpinella will be tearing down the rooftop beer garden at Bobby Q’s in Westport starting at 9 pm. Come for some bbq and brews and soak up the summer air.

8/22 A five-course “Nose to Tail” farm dinner from Chef William Carbone of Dish Restaurant will take place right at the Killam & Bassette Farmstead. The meal is $100 dollars with all of the proceeds going to the Judy Lynch Memorial Scholarship Fund which goes to a Glastonbury senior based on community service and work ethic.
