Although June 1 is quite a while away, we wish we could fast forward to that date to witness an epic culinary battle at Founders Hall. We speak of the Battle of the Chefs for Founder Hall where three chefs from Fairfield County will compete against each other in a food-infused brawl.
Challenger 2: Chef Matt Storch of Match in Norwalk
All three challengers have extensive experience cooking a variety of cuisines, so it’ll be interesting to see what they bring to the plate.
This is how the night will go down:
- The three chefs will cook an appetizer that everybody attending will have the chance to sample and vote on.
- For the entrée round, guests will have the option to buy a special taste table ticket that lets them try out all three entrees.
- And, there is also a dessert competition that is open to professional and home bakers.
The event will be emceed by Jane Stern, a food critic and writer famous for her Roadfood books and pieces in NPR, The NY Times, and Parade. Helping to judge will be Dean of the CIA, Brendan Walsh, New Haven Register food columnist Stephen Fries, and Denise Mickelsen who is the Senior Editor of Fine Cooking. The judges will be looking at “creativity,” “craftsmanship,” and “culinary results.” Want to be a judge, too? There will be an auction where you can bid on that special privilege, so keep an eye out for that! And, making sure that none of the chefs pull any fast ones will be referee Amy Kundrant from CTbites.
Tickets will go on sale near the end of April on founders-hall.org or via phone at (203) 431-7000, so we’ll be sure to update you when we get that information. What we do know is that this event will be a lot of fun, but at heart it’s for a great cause: Founders Hall in Ridgefield. This education and rec center provides people who are 60 or older with classes, fitness, engagement, and a great lifestyle that enhance their lives.
We can’t wait for the battle!
Who are you rooting for?
