Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and, you know what that means: yup, time for the annual Chocolate, Wine, & Food Lovers Evening! This year it’s going down on 2/5 from 6-9 at The Marriott Hotel & Spa in Stamford. This event has been held as a way to not only help people find the best drinks, food, and desserts in Fairfield County, but to also give attendees a chance to pick up some great gifts at the Valentine Boutique or via silent auctions. But, the real heart of the event is the cause: 100% of the proceeds go directly to Shelter for the Homeless, a Stamford-based organizaton that serves Lower Fairfield County by “[P]roviding temporary housing to homeless men, striving to obtain permanent supportive housing and services for men and women tailored to meet their relevant needs, and empowering people to help themselves achieve their greatest level of self-sufficiency.”
Last year was so much fun, we talked with so many great people, ate so much great food and tried out so many new restaurants, drinks, chocolates, and cupcakes that it was well worth it. Tickets are just $60 and can be bought here, by calling (203) 406-0017, or online/at the door for $70 after 2/4.

Yesterday we told you about the massively chocolicious Chocolate, Dessert, & Wine Lover’s Evening that’s going down on February 6 from 6-9 at the Stamford Marriott. Over 70 vendors, restaurants, vineyards, sweets shops, chocolatiers, coffee shops, cheese mongers, distilleries, and cupcakeries will be there for your sampling pleasure! Plus, you also might just win one of many door prizes. Yeah, it’s going to be quite the decadent night…and we want to help to get you there!

First up, it all goes down on 2/6/14 from 6-9 pm at the Stamford Marriott and tickets are $50 in advance (purchase them here) or $60 after February 3. Good news, too: 100% of the tickets sold go directly to the Shelter for the Homeless. This annual event is always a major fundraiser and with the crazy temperatures we’ve been experiencing lately, those without a home need the help even more.

Dan has fond memories of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. When he was a kid, his parents took the family to the factory in Vermont where they tasted Cherry Garcia and Cookie Dough then had some sundaes at the attached shop. Even though it looked amazing, Dan skipped The Vermonster: 20 scoops of ice cream, hot fudge, banana, cookies, brownies, and lots of toppings. But, taking down a regular sized sundae wasn’t difficult at all.
That was years ago (won’t mention how many, though) and now Ben & Jerry’s has become a worldwide phenomena. And, it’s pretty clear why when you can’t help yourself when it comes to flavors like Liz Lemon, Cannoli, Americone Dream, Chubby Hubby, Coffee Heath Bar Crunch and our favorite of all time…Chunky Monkey. Just as a reminder and to thank everybody on their birthday this year, Ben & Jerry’s is offering up a free cone at their stores all across the country and world. Last year, alone, they gave away over 1,000,000 cones!
